Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities

Mercury in Taurus:

Your mind operates in a very deliberate and methodical manner and you dislike being rushed or forced to give an opinion before you have thoroughly ruminated and digested an idea. You are also difficult to influence once your mind is made up.

Though slower to grasp new concepts or learn new skills, you are patient and persevering and, in fact, often become quite adept at whatever you put your mind and hand to, for you are willing to devote much time and attention to it. You succeed not so much because of your mental brilliance, but because you have the ability to concentrate and follow a project through to its completion. You have an aptitude for singing or drawing.

Mercury in 7th house:

You are often involved in verbal exchanges, interviewing, discussing, debating, counseling, negotiating, getting and giving feedback, and sharing information. You are drawn to intelligent and verbal people, with whom you can communicate and from whom you can learn. You love to have an audience to hear your ideas, and you also appreciate eloquent presentations by others.

Mercury Opposition Mars:

Argumentative and rather aggressive and critical in discussions, you tend to turn any conversation into a debate, and sometimes a verbal war. You could be a spokesman for a righteous cause, a lawyer vigorously defending a client, a sharp analyst or critic. You are a convincing speaker, but are not especially receptive to the ideas and opinions of others. You have a forceful intellect and an aptitude for mental work.

Moon Conjunct Mercury:

You are a natural psychologist or counselor, interested in the inner motivations, feelings, personal life, and problems of others. You are a sympathetic listener and you also love to discuss (endlessly!) your own experiences and feelings. You tend to be very personal and subjective in your point of view. You have a talent for getting others to talk about their lives, dreams, desires, and other things that are personally meaningful to them. You could be an excellent interviewer, reporter, or biographer. Idle talk and gossip are your vices. The study of the past - history, archeology, genealogy, etc. - is of great interest to you. Psychology, symbolism, mythology, and languages are also areas that you are drawn to.

Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance

Moon in Taurus:

Even tempered and peace loving, you are not easily ruffled and are rarely given to emotional displays. You have a calming effect on more high-strung or volatile people, and an emotional steadiness that others find soothing. Though gentle and not easily provoked, you are tremendously stubborn and will resist any change which requires an emotional adjustment, such as changes in your home life or marriage.

You seek security and loyalty in love, are extremely devoted to your loved ones, and provide a warm, nurturing atmosphere for them. However, you tend to cling and seek to keep others from changing. You depend a great deal upon other people for emotional support and you have a large "family" of friends that care about you and treat you as kin. The women in your life are particularly important to you, and your relationship with them powerfully influences your sense of security and happiness. You may be overly dependent and unsure of yourself without a close partner.

Moon Opposition Mars:

You are temperamental and impatient and can be very difficult to live with. You tend to respond with a temper tantrum (overt or subtle) if your desires are frustrated. You become very irritable and bad tempered if you do not have enough vigorous physical activities or other outlets for your aggressive, feisty spirit.

Moon Sextile Venus:

You feel that little, daily acts of caring and thoughtfulness are essential to the happiness and success of a relationship and you know how to make others feel accepted, loved, and cherished. You enjoy good relationships with women.

Venus in Pisces:

Tremendously softhearted and sympathetic, you give very selflessly and devotedly to those you love and often allow others to become overly dependent upon you. More compassionate than passionate, you may become romantically involved with someone because they need love and you want to help them, rather than out of mutual pleasure or attraction. You are drawn to sensitive, imaginative, gentle souls - poets, musicians, dreamers - or to someone you feel you can have a deep spiritual relationship with. You idealize love and have a very beautiful, romantic vision of what love can be.

Venus in 4th house:

A warm, loving, and comfortable home is very important to you and you invest a lot of your energy into beautifying, decorating, and creating a lovely home. Also, you share your affection with the people in your family very generously and having close family ties is a major priority for you. Being at home makes you happy.

Venus Trine Mars:

You are warmly romantic and openly express your appreciation and love of the opposite sex, though rarely in a crude or insensitive manner. You enjoy playing match-maker and bringing people together romantically. Fulfillment and harmony in love is likely for you because you know what you want and need in a romantic sense and express those desires honestly.

Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals

Mars in Scorpio:

You are extremely strong-willed and you pursue your goals and desires with passionate dedication and determination. You are capable of total concentration and tremendous discipline, and you are very difficult to influence or sway once your mind is made up. When you want something, you can be very one-sided and almost obsessed with it. You are very instinctive and do not always consciously know why you feel as strongly and deeply as you do.

You also tend to be secretive and unwilling to reveal your aims and intentions, and the intensity of your will and desire may not be apparent to others at first. However, you are very forceful in a quiet and subtle way. You often manipulate or force your will upon other people, without being overtly aggressive. You are not interested in confrontation but are a formidable foe if you meet opposition or aggression from another. You are courageous and have a rather primitive, raw side as well.

Mars in 1st house:

You are a doer and an achiever. Energetic, courageous, and often impatient, you will forge ahead with your plans regardless of others' reservations. In fact, you often feel other people get in your way and you prefer working on your own. You are active, assertive, and rather competitive as well.

Chapter 6: Other Influences

Jupiter in Virgo:

Your ability to think things through clearly, and to analyze and understand the smallest details of any plan, is highly developed. You have a modest nature and are more concerned with the success of your project or work than with personal aggrandizement. You enjoy working and are happiest when you are being productive and using your time efficiently.

Jupiter in 9th house:

You are very open-minded and deeply curious about distant places and ways of thinking and living that are different from your own. The urge to travel widely and to experience as much of the world as possible is very strong in you. The study of philosophy or religion also interests you a great deal. You benefit from your contact with other cultures, and you may be involved in linking those who are far apart geographically or philosophically.

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus:

You are very enthusiastic and high-spirited. You inject a positive, optimistic note into any endeavor, and others enjoy your fun-loving and enterprising attitude.

Jupiter Conjunct Pluto:

You aim high and strive to position yourself in a manner that will ensure success. You are not above joining organizations or rubbing elbows with others primarily for the opportunities and social status that they confer on you. You abhor pettiness and your broad perspective and vision incline you to an influential and successful position in life.

Jupiter Sextile Neptune:

You have a great, wide-open sense of possibilities which allows extraordinary, even miraculous events to come into your life. A sense of divine grace, of being part of the flow of the universe, of communing with celestial realms or Beings, are all very natural to you. At the same time, you're not apt to go to extremes or lose your sense of perspective. You are also quite altruistic and giving, and ready to aid less fortunate people. A sense of gratitude and spiritual wealth is one of your finest attributes.

Saturn in Aries:

You have difficulty asserting your will and desires directly and openly. You also may suppress your anger and aggressiveness. Developing self-confidence, courage, and faith in yourself are important tasks for you.

Saturn in 5th house:

It may be difficult for you to play spontaneously or just let your hair down, for you tend to inhibit that side of yourself by being too self-conscious and concerned with the impression you are making. You may work very hard at some sport or creative medium in order to excel, for you want very, very much to be noticed, acknowledged, and recognized as special in some
way. Though you may indeed be outstanding, you also need to learn to relax and enjoy yourself more.

Uranus in Virgo:

You are part of a 7 year group of people who employ their skills and creativity to bring about a great deal of practical reform in education, medical care, and other social services. Your innovations are not radical or unusual, but they are usually effective.

Your generation also has a curious mixture of both conservative, ethical people, and rebellious, disruptive people. There seems to be little middle ground for your age group, and you swing to one extreme or the other. The conservative people strive to reinstate strict moral standards, want to swiftly punish criminal behavior, and strive to highlight the importance of old-fashioned values in our lives, laws, and overall life style. On the other hand, the rebellious people of your generation are angry at the established way of doing things and act in a defiant, crude, and coarse manner.

Uranus in 9th house:

You are unconventional, even iconoclastic, in your attitude toward religion, philosophy, and politics. You tend to see traditional religion as restrictive, meaningless ritual with little to offer you, and you're eager to experiment with other, alternative pathways. You have lots of creative, innovative ideas and you often feel that others are unwilling to take risks and venture out of their deeply ingrained perspectives and views.

Uranus Sextile Neptune:

You are quite open to psychic experiences and altered states of consciousness, and do not have to work very hard to achieve them. You belong to an idealistic, free-thinking group of people who will advance the spiritual progress of humankind as a whole.

Neptune in Scorpio:

You are part of a 14 year group of people that have very intense psychic sensitivity and imagination. Your age group is very attracted to the strange, weird, and unusual. The sense of the macabre and bizarre is strong, and this is reflected in much of the music, art, and fashions of your age group. Novels and movies with mystery and chilling suspense are also popular with your age group. Emotional depression, drug use, and suicide are likely to be relatively high in your age group. There is also a deep mystical sense, and Eastern religions and meditation are very attractive to your age group.

Neptune in 12th house:

Compassionate and extremely sensitive to the emotional tones in the atmosphere surrounding you, you are naturally "psychic" or able to sense and understand much about a person without talking to them or knowing them consciously at all. You are deeply interested in the hidden realms of life and the afterlife. Pluto in Leo:

However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a strong egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the individual as more important than the group. You also defy authority and often feel that no one has the right to tell you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into the military is one example of your age group's strong sense of individual rights and freedom.

Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has contributed a great deal to the development of individual potential as well as human rights. However, there is also a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder how you can spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to contribute to your families!

The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a fascination with particular individuals and a great deal of hero worship. Every generation, of course, has lots of idols, but your generation is particularly prone to needing a specific individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to serve as a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.

Pluto in 9th house:

You have strong philosophical views and there are times in your life when you passionately crusade for a cause that you deem noble and of utmost importance. Although your intentions are good, you are not as objective as you think you are, and your views are more colored by personal experiences and concerns than you realize. Nevertheless, you can also be instrumental in bringing about positive change if you can avoid being dogmatic. Also, you may radically change or revise your own personal beliefs, even your most cherished convictions, many times during your life.
