Yes, yes yes!

I am impressed!  You got that!

Anything related to the 3rd House, is going to go through the sequence of 6/9/12th House expressions as the native, thing, subject "grows" or "completes" anything!  The "vehicle" that carries that growth or completion is going to be seen through mercury, and wherever else it may be located in the chart.  The 3/6/9/12 Houses are all Cadent and Mutable.  This grouping is a little more unusual than previous lessons, because mercury is the "lord" or ruler of 3/6 and Gemini/Virgo when below the horizon, but above the horizon, this group goes to Jupiter/Neptune with Sagittarius/Pisces.

When I say that mercury is the vehicle that carries this, I mean the beginning expressions of it.  You''ll see the mercury influence carried all the way through this little group, although mercury is no longer the "lord" or "ruler" when this energy gets to the 9th house - 12th House.

It's very important to understand this sequence/grouping.  At this point in the chart, we can no longer say that everything "means" just about the same thing as everything else in that group as we could say in previous lessons.  They are "related" but in entirely different ways because this group of houses, signs, and planets are getting more complex than simply meaning about the same thing.  This begins "development," growth cycles, beginning to apply and express what has been learned and ruled by the Sun and Moon.

If the 6th House is everyday health, then where do the roots of that health begin?  The 3rd house, with Gemini and mercury.

Our chores, our jobs, are ruled by the 6th house, but these things began in the 3rd house development and learning...and are continued with the 9th House of "higher education" and into the 12th which is wisdom beyond simply repeating what has been learned.

To apply this to the American school systems: 3rd House would be grandes 1-6.  Junior and Senior High Schools grades 7-12 are 6th House.  College is 9th House.  Masters, Ph.D. would be 12th House.  I am using this just as an example of how this grouping can be applied.  Anything 3rd/6th House would have similar cycles and expressions here.

What is represented in the 9th house with philosophy, higher education, religion, etc., could not exist without the early beginnings in the 3rd with mercury, and the study and dedication of the 6th house.  To develop past merely the "rote" learning, eventually there must be a consolidation of all that has been learned and apply it with wisdom...12th House.

As you noted, soulsearch, all four elements are also represented by this cycle/sequence when taken to the 9th and 12th.  There is also a balance of yin/yang.

Wow!  I am really impressed!  (And I didn't think anyone was listening!)

So what you are saying that any square pattern in a chart would indicate struggles and challenges.

We can do the same with

1-4-7-10
Aries-Cancer-Libra-Capricorn
All Angular- Point of initiation
Fire-Water-Air-Earth
Mars-Moon-Venus-Saturn

3-6-9-12
Gemini- Virgo-Saggi-Pisces

2-5-8-11
Taurus-Leo-Scorpio-Aquarius
All Suceedent -Point of purpose and stablization
Venus-Sun-Mars-Saturn

****************

Okay back to the 3rd House. ( soft aspects)
The Grand Trine form the 3rd house would be
3-7-11
Gemini-Libra-Aquarius
Easy Flow of energy...??

Sextiles
3-5-7-9-11-1

Just thinking aloud

***************
So when you look at a chart, the Squares and Opposition would relate hard aspects. Squares wrt to 3 house would indicate areas the person needs to work upon and eventually grow.
Also in this square only two planets are involved- Mercury and Jupiter. So growth generally would involve learning, thinking, communication, higher learning wisdom all through adaptibility and change.

I have been writing everything on paper and I guess its time to get those index cards

I would add "wisdom" and "growth" through struggles and challenges.  Although it doesn't necessarily involve struggle/challenges.  Someone who is studying hard for a school test, for example, is not really "struggling" but they are working with dedication and full intent (Virgo qualities required here) to produce a desired result (passing the school test).

YES!  You are getting a little ahead of me!    Yet, that is exactly it!
Now, perhaps some can see why I spent so much time before class began talking about the elements, yin/yang, and cycles!    To determine "where you are" with growth, karma, your new job, promotions, personality, a problem in your life, your marriage, etc., you only have to identify where you're at with respect to these cycles.  This has a two-fold benefit...it helps you go forward and so be able to solve the problem or reap greater benefits, and it also allows you to see how far you've come which allows you to keep perspective.

This isn't generic to everyone, because everyone's chart is going to be a little different depending on the sun sign on the house cusps, planets in the houses, and the aspects.  So, how to go forward is personalized to YOU (or whomever).

Also, this group is the only group that shares planets to move it forward (mercury, jupiter)

Any of the triplicities will do that.  Starting with the 3rd, it is AIR.

See above comments

You've got it!  That really excites me, to know someone is understanding!

Yes!  You can't have growth or change or progress in anything without the mutables (adaptibility).  And, through that, there is growth, expansion, wisdom, etc. (Jupiter), that begins with a new thought, hearing something, beginning a new class, etc. (all mercury).

This kind of a grouping can be very productive in more ways than personal growth

An application of this, an example:

Suppose you are a project manager, or you want to get a project started.  Put a Gemini, a Virgo, A Sagittarius, and a Pisces in the same room, and they will produce a brilliant project.  They won't always get along (they are in square to each other), but once they settle down to work, they will come up with something that is extraordinary, brilliant, and very workable.
