What does an empty house signifies?

For e.g if I have no planets in 10th house, then does it mean I won't have a good career ....??

Hi all..I see that this thread/question went unanswered...but it is something I have encountered also...

In my Birth Chart (cafeastrology.com), I get some houses with no signs or planets(?)
In the printout, it shows names in the houses....how can this be. Can someone explain this to me please?

Most of the time you can ignore empty houses. However you can also see which houses are missing planets and struggle to fulfill what they are missing. For instance, lets say you have Venus in the 3rd House, you may be able to speak eloquently, but even if you have no planets in the 3rd House, you can still develope the skill of speaking eloquently with practice. It simply means that it is a lot easier for people who have a planet in that house to express what they want. If you want to know the area your career and public life is headed and there are no planets, look to the Sign and any aspects that join with the MC. Aspects between the MC and other planets will be helpful as well. All of that will give you a general idea. Since it is the 10th House, you may have difficulty initiating career and public oriented goals in your life. Basically, your career may start out later than usual, but that also makes you a hard worker.

My natal chart and I have done it many times showes that I have 7 out of the 12 houses empty.  They are: 5, 6, 7. 9. 11, 12.  I never gave it much thought before.  Any ideas???
