As a point of interest - I use a variety of methods
for electional work. One of these is a general
approach to get the feel for the electional dates.

This method produces a graph which I include
below for acapr220 - there would be a different
graph for her fiancee as natal charts are,
of course, different.

This just helps to get a general picture but for
the actual election one needs a more exact approach.

Thank you so much!  That is a lot to choose from. I actually like the Sept 18th date because that is the anniversary of our very first date. I'm gonna give that some thought.

Thanks again

Hi acapr220, the chart for Sep 6 2009 @16:00
in Mi, detroit for marriage has the Moon sextiling
the Ascendant ruler Jupiter and Venius is in an
applying trine with the Moon. This is okay...

However, Jupiter is retrograde - the Moon ( in fall )
is in a T-Square with Pluto and Mars, Pluto in the first
in a intercepted sign and is square both Saturn in
the ninth of Ceremony and Uranus Rx in the third.
Mercury is in a T-Square  with Pluto and Mars opposed
to Uranus Rx in the third. Mars is intercepted in the 7th
in recepetion with Moon in the third ( Moon in fall ).

... and it goes on and on. Not the greatest chart
at all. You noticed that Jupiter in the last degree of
Sagitarius and Jupiter rules both 1st house and 12th house.
That alone should be fairly interesting even without
the tension of the T-squares and retrograde planets
Pluto, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus. Venus in the eighth
of other peoples money rules the MC and 5th house of
speculation.

Well, the thing is this is not the only chart of course.
The natal charts of the people involved are also
very important and ego or will power can overcome these
influences - perhaps even a rededication marriage
to replace any effects ( assuming they do manifest -
they may not if other charts are powerful enough ).

In cases for example of business with bad charts
I get the now formed company to close the books
and reopen on dates that are more compatible to
overcome this kind of issue.

Seems to work :)

Thank you so much. This is fascinating stuff to me. Is this technically called Horary astrology? I read somewhere that in horary astrology the applying aspects are of more concern than the existing or separating ones... Is that right?

I think I have a new date for our wedding instead of the Sept 26th one... I came up with this chart and the only thing about it was the mercury retrograde in the 8th house. Can you look into that aspect of the chart below and tell me a bit more about what that 8th merc retrograde means and if the other pro's of the chart outweigh the cons....

Thank you so much for helping me with this. I am about 2 weeks away from finalizing the date....

Hi acapr220,
Although many of the rules do conform to Horary - the actual branch
of Astrology that this uses is Electional. There is Natal which uses
the time of birth to describe and then predict major events, Horary
which provides the localized focus of a querants pertinent and personal
question and lasts about a maximum of 3 to 6 months in application and
then Electional which selects the best moment for doing an activity.

Applying and serpating aspects are traditionally associated with Horary
where applying aspects in connection with significators predict the future
and the seperating describe the past situation of the question.

I am not sure that Mercury retrograde would affect you as your natal
chart does not have retrograde Mercury although Fiancee does have
Mercury in detriment it is also not retrograde. It is difficult to think
of the entire world for the three of four times a year unable to function
in Mercury related situations during the yearly retrogrades. I have seen
a natal chart with retrograde and afflcited Mercury under stress ( squares )
from transits ( and progressions of various kinds ) fulfill the naysayers
dire predictions BUT as it also needs additional stress from the
localized ( in time ) transits and progressions this only happened
once or twice in the entire life of the person. Mercury retrogrades
can be useful for review of situations or even comparison
purchases as Mercury is the natural ruler of the third house
of thinking. Legal decisions are often assisted by this kind
of penetrating review especially in aspect to natal rulers
that support considerations of comparison and planning ( third and
ninth house rulers).

In any case, your question is how does the Mercury Retrograde affect
your marriage chart ( Mercury Retrograde in 8th House trining the Ascendant
conjunction to the Sun, trining the Moon in the third and trining the
North node ) would tend to give a tendency to unfounded worries
in relation to financial future of your husband - this could produce
some cross examination to expose unspoken issues best left as
an attracting mystery. Simple relaxation is probably the best antitdote
or perhaps a better approach would be acceptance of a the new mutual
system brought about by the marriage.

As an electional chart for marriage ( say first and seventh house )
the chart is acceptable.

The moon rules the Descendant trining the Ascendant ( also forming
a mutual grand trine to the Sun and Mercury ) so there is a powerful
positive aspect between you and your fiancee. The first house ruler
Saturn squares the Ascendant so that would probably give lack of
confidence and shyness. South Node is in the 7th house so your
fiancee is probably feeling the long term vulnerability of the
marriage but evokes great determination and self discipline.

I think the only thing that attracts my attention is the intercepted signs
of Pisces in the second and Virgo in the eighth. With Neptune retrograde
in the second in Pisces there could be confusion for the future. Neptune,
Pluto, Uranus, Jupiter and Mercury are all retrograde so some
serious thinking and consideration while persist in the relationship which
probably is not a bad thing but will probably be interpreted ( as your natal
ascendant is conjunct the marriage charts Mars in the 8th in Libra )
as a celebration of disconnection with the past. A celebration of
new life and new beginnings.
