Having the exact birth time can be difficult for some people to get hold of. Many times I have to calculate my charts using information from birth certificates, memoires, or even hearsay.

For example, my birth certificate says I was born at 12 (midnight) on 13 July, however my mum says I was born at 23:55 on 13th July. Some people my think that 5 minutes is no big deal, but it is..... look at my example:

  -    if I was born at midnight then I was born at the begining of 13th July;
  -    on the other hand, if I was born at 23:55, then I was born at the end of 13th July going towards 14th July.

This is a major gap for an astrological chart, a whole 24 hours gap.

My quest has been to find a reliable and easy way to calculate the birth time. I am not a mathematical person, so I need something that is easy for me to understand and does not rely in me having to learn great calculations.

Otherwise I would welcome an easy to use software for that purpose.

Can anyone assist me here, with some clues, please?

Hi lusitanian,

I dont think there is an easy way so to speak to
calculate the rectified date/time. There is a product
called "Jigsaw" but I dont use it much preferring
my own approach to match the test of "the natal
chart should predict major impacts in ones life".

There are some books that can assist this kind
of approach in correcting or verifying a chart
but it takes some years to get the feel of the
techniques involved - energy perhaps spent
more productively in other areas.

However, this is a fairly important issue which
is why I sidestep it by doing Horary or by
always rectifying a clients natal chart despite the
additional time it takes to do the rectification.

Often enough I have come across a client who
is convinced the birth time is "a.m.' but
is really "p.m." - or a time zone difference such
as for places like Illinois, USA.

This is a difficult, time intensive and very volatile
subject that can lead to personal isolation. Better
to let a qualified astrologer resolve the issues
with established techniques and tools unless
one is prepared for some real adversity.

Solar Arcs
Solar arcs are really simple, especially for beginners, just move the Angles, Asc, Desc, MC, IC 1' for each year of your life onto planets and vice versa. Not just used for rectification either. Under age 12 though these interpretations are directed towards family changes, maybe relocation, job changes, illnesses, additions to family etc. Another example is my Pluto is 28' Leo in 7th house and my Uranus is 3' Leo in same house to subtract these and you get age 25. That year my then husband and I had an almighty explosion (Uranus) and transformation (Pluto) of that marriage that started the demise and ultimate ending thereof....

• Transiting Pluto square, conj opp Asc, Desc, MC, IC
• If under 12’ when it conj an Angle then their age was under age 12 it’s parents adjustments. A death, change within father’s work, a separation, remarriage.
• Adults or teens, 1st job, identity transformation MC.
• Pluto conj Desc = death, health concerns, geographic, significant relationship or break up, but has to be ‘life transforming’
• Also try transiting Neptune, something dissolving, disappearing, confusing etc.
• Timings of transits… is it the 1st hit? More often it’s the middle retrograde hit… but could be the last direct hit also. 1’ =4minutes in time.
