I don't know a lot about astrology...I am fascinated by it and would love to learn more about it......unfortunately after five minutes my mind is buzzing with all the possibilities...I am not to good at learning without someone to say do this, now this is why you just did that...and i hope you realize I was being sarcastic in  my last comment...

Youdah is right, we should not even be debating this issue as it makes NO difference whatsoever to Astrology.

Tropical zodiac is used and until you learn the basics (for which there are Lessons here and others free online) you should not overload or complicate matters with talking about 'precssions' or Sidreal astrology

Amongst other things, astrology is a wonderful tool for understanding yourself and others better.....enabling us to make better choices in life as we become aware of how our behaviour influences what happens to us through the law of cause and effect. Astrology does not reliably predict the future.......But it can provide an excellent insight into the psychological make-up of people, enabling us to accurately predict their behaviour and it's resultant effects

If you intend to learn about astrology, you will need to begin with a natal chart, it need not necessarily be your own, but many choose to begin this way, in an effort to better understand their own life journey, and purpose. Astrological natal charts are as individual as a persons ‘fingerprints’ depending on where (latitude & longitude) and time of birth. It is important to get your *time of your birth* as this is the most important information.

I will Definately try these links...and I think I will borrow some books from the library...I think with help I CAN understand this.  Do you have any books you would recommend?  I believe we choose the moment we are born..and  I could gain a lot of understanding by studying this.  Thank you for the links,  but please don't let my {or anyone elses}  ignorance of the subject from discussing something that gives you pleasure...I might not understand it...but it does peak my curiosity...otherwise I wouldn't be following the thread....

I read that their used to be 13 months and the calender used to be based on cycles of nature more, then priests were hypnotized by aliens who used religion to control people into thinking the the 12 - 60 ratio is better then the 13 - 20 ratio. Maybe something similar happened with astrology.

Precession would make the most sense as it's how the celestial bodies are truly move. Using a system that is the same every year may be easier, as you only have to learn it once then you can just call upon what you already learned, but this is laziness. As we grow older we live different. I read that the average of people changing careers is once every 13 years. Maybe that is part of natures precession. I heard someone saying that when someone dies they will reincarnate on a day that falls in precession with what they were in their last life time to experience all the different and energies and learn what they have to teach. Maybe if one stays alive this happens regardless of physical death or birth. What if part of people dieing is attachment to what they were so strongly that to bring people into the new energy sometimes physical death is required for some to give up the old and embrace the new.  

I wonder weather the fact that astrology can still be accurate is only due to the higher powers using astrology to communicate through the body language of the cosmos can get the messages through that they need to even if astrologers have been to lazy to keep their system updated to include factors that make it so it's not the same all the time, like so it is actually based on natural cycles. Note the most advances civilizations dedicated more time and energy to tracking the movements of the heavens accurately then anything else, save maybe for their advanced and lasting architecture, much of which was designed as a calendar. Like an advanced sun dial.

If it were measured by the size of the star formations, some would be longer then others. Like the age of Pisces would be for another two hundred or so years. And scorpio would be shorter, which it ought to. We don't need that many scorpions, or to spend that much time in scorprio, it's the most volatile sign, and it can be a bit nosy. The reasons I've found for the current system being the same every year regardless of other factors, including the 13th sign, have generally just been it's easier for one to get their head around.
