Hello, this is a question pertaining to the significances of the Full Moon and Mars at this time. Are there any significances concerning the position of Mars being positioned at the SW point beneath the Full Moon (15th day of cycle) on the 23rd of December in 2007. I live in the USA in the state of New Mexico, located in the Southwestern part of the country.

Is there any significance to the sheer brightness of the Full Moon at this time? I hear it will not be this bright for another 10 or so years. What about Mars and its brightness for being so close to the earth? Any magical correspondences that effect magical workings done at this time, such as cutting wood to make a wand, on the 23rd of December in 2007 at 5:30-ish p.m.?

Any meanings of the conjunction of the Moon and Mars concerning magical and mundane matters at this time?

I hope I have been clear in my questions as I have just started learning astrology; I am more inclined toward the Tarot but want to learn astrology as well. If you need to ask me any questions for clarification, please do so.

I do not know about the brightness of the full moon, but do understand that this year and last few years at this time, Mars was closer than it normally is, so, all things being equal, Mars woudl appear brighter.  Both the moon and Mars occupied the zodiac sign Cancer at Dec. 23rd.  Mars is in it's fall in Cancer, while the moon rules cancer. It means that the emotional nature may be quickened and one may react or respond hastily, without much forethought or deliberation.  Mars is not always a 'malefic' and tends to have an energizing effect on the moon. There would be strong feelings towards family and the 'clan' as well as tradition and one's parents when the moon and Mars are conjunct in Cancer. Any conjuction, opposition, trine or square can be thought of as 'magical' times as they represent patterns that are distinct in sky.  From a geocentric point of view (upon which  western astrology is based) it does not much matter if you are in the southwest of the US or northeast, as regards Mars being southwest of the moon at this time.
