Can someone enlighten me on how does it make sense that in the world of 3 billion population, there are only 12 kind of destiny since there are only 12 zodiac signs?

The Zodiac is considered circular when seen from a point.

A circle from its centre is divided in 360 degrees.......simple maths.

The Zodiac is divided in 12 parts of 30 degrees each. Each part is called a sign and has its own nature.

These 12 signs can be divided in 4 categories according to elements (1) Fire (2) Earth (3) Air (4) Water.

Again every sign can be further subdivided into decanates.....Every decanate has a quality.

There are so many dicisions, so ultimately it is not divided in 12 signs only.

All living beings are divided in 3 categories (1) female (2) Neuter (3) Male. instead of 12 categories.

Ans: There are 12 kinds of destiny roughly. Then consider the other divisions and sub divisions.

Astrology accepts 12 signs as a base; then goes deeper.

Well, first off there are like...six billion people on the Earth today.

Secondly, get out of Sun Sign astrology, wherein 1/12 of everyone on the Earth are expected to experience the same kind of day, and then ask questions.

Great spirit. So many people dont believe/rely in astrology or fate, probably rightly said.

Since you do not believe in destiny...... at least learn to BELIEVE in YOURSELF......
and GO Right AHEAD.

You are on the right track if you do.
