Louw, basically where the Zodiac is Fixed. Tropical has the Zodiac as a shell around the Earth and set along the ecleptic, while the Sidereal has it set against a backdrop of Fixed Stars, this vantage point changes as the Earth kind of wiggles on its axis, which accounts for the ~23° difference between the two.
Astroman, are you sure you're looking at good interpretations? Or even looking at the horoscope as a whole or are you just looking at your Sol Sign? Also, don't think that just because you're Tropically a Cancer and Sidereally a Gemini and you know the associations with Gemini and you relate with them makes it true. The interpretations between the Western Gemini and the Vedic Gemini are different. Going back to my 'horoscope as a whole point', personally, the Sidereal Zodiac would make me a super Cancer, and I would relate to this very well. I have my Lord of Genture, powerhouse Jupiter in Cancer in the angular Fourth, so not only is my Jupiter powerful, but it is in the position to act on this power and I find myself to be a very Jovian person. However, this does not mean that I am not Leonine as my Solar Sign would suggest. Sol, Luna, Mercury, and Mars are all in Leo for me, add to it Vesta who is in the Leonine Decan of Sagittarius, and Pallas and Eris who are in the Leonine Decan of Aries. I have a HUGE Leonine emphasis, but the most important players (Sol, Luna, Mercury, Mars) are tucked away in my Fifth and Sixth house, though they have some power to them, they don't have the ability to act on it like Jupiter. So, I come off as very Cancerian thanks to Jupiter, but also very Leonine thanks to the conglomeration of planets that are in Leo or have Leo 'tints' to them.
I say all that to say to not ever take a single aspect of a horoscope and say 'Nope, it doesn't work for me'.
