For Virgo Ascendant Mars owns 3 and 8 - so is a functional malefic.
Saturn owns a trine and a dustana (6th) - so is a functional neutral leaning towards malefic (due to natural maleficence)

Diseases are seen from the 6th house and Saturn is the 6th lord.
If you look closely Saturn is very closely associated with Ketu - separated only by 0 Deg 6 Mins - that is extremely close.

Though I should leave it here - I'm curious as to what was the prediction about this combination.
It doesn't seem to be auspicious - may be some illness or condition about the Liver or digestive system.

    1) I have a basic doubt. In Tamil Astrology books, only Ascendant or Lagna is marked in Horoscopes. No degrees or associated with it. Considering for example the above mentioned birth chart of Male born on 14th Oct, 1962, 0519 Hrs. 28.37 N 77.04E, Ascendant is marked as Asdt 12 degrees. Along with Asdt is placed Sun 27 degrees and Mer 13 degrees. Following figures are also enclosed in the birth chart. Asdt 05-12-14,Sun 05-26-49 ,Mer 05-13-23. Is there a relationship between these figures and the degrees placed in the birth chart. Please elaborate on this. Also please tell , why in tamil astrology books degrees are not mentioned. What is the significance of degrees.

  2) For the above discussed birth chart, is Sun a functional malefic. If so how?

As i'm still waiting for the suitable reply for my previous post, i thought that i could make a post regarding another query. In a TV programme todays planetary positions (01.06.2010) were indicated in south indian chart and astrologer was giving his predictions for all the rasis Mesha to Meena. I found that only eight planets were placed in the chart in corresponding positions except moon. In certain days i have noted that all the nine planets are placed. I would like to know when moon will be absent from the chart. If somebody elaborates on how one calculates  daily planetary positions, it will be thankful.

This is regarding male born on 14th DEC 1946, 0927 AM 28.39 N 77.13 E
From the chart it was mentioned that the strong Mercury placed in the house of gains in the nativity acted as the Sun.Also it was mentioned that The weak significator for vitality, the Sun, occupies the eleventh house. My doubt is that  mercury and sun both placed in same house, how one can be strong and other can be weak? And how can mercury act as sun?

Also moon in 8 th house showered miseries on mother. I agree with this point. But what is the significance of moon as dispositor for saturn? can somebody reply.
