I am a very basic learner of Astrology. But from experience I can say that chanting stotras/mantras sincerely can effect a lot of changes.

If this analysis is true, try chanting Vishnu Sahasranama daily, in the mornings and evenings. Prayer to Lord Vishnu is an effective remedy for both Mercury and Shani-related issues. For Shani you can include Hanuman Chalisa also (it has worked very well for many people, incl me)

Your chart,
  1.  Mercury - Buddhi karaka is retrograde

  2.  5th house is ruled by Venus is retrograde

  3.  9th house is ruled by mercury - it is retrograde

  The plus point is both mercury and venus are in lagna indicating you will have good acadamic career but not an excellent one.


In your brother chart,

  Jupiter the lagna lord is in 9th house.  This is enough to nullify other malefic if any.  In future, your brother may be achieving great achievements than he has achieved till today.
