You still need to look into the details of the planets strength and look for the yoga it forms (taking dasa lord as key ). If the planet in strong in Shadbala/Vimshopak it will certainly give the yoga results. Problem comes when there are no yogas present from dasa lord, even though you may have yogas from ASC. Once you do this then use Astakvargha to get the transits and exact timing of the event
If the antar lord is adversely placed with respet to dasa lord then the transits are good enough to predict accurately
For diving deep then you need D-charts and progression dasa( Narayana) etc to get the exact nature of the outcome.
The idea is need not to memorize isloated rules, get a finer picture by using the other strengths of the planets, these rules are hidden and used inside the system as weighted average.

vimshopak of 10 is average( should be around 15 ), Sahdabala is OK, look for Vaesekamsha and if it's aroud 4 or more than you know the yoga will happen provided the drigbala ( planetary strength due to aspects) is realtively positive as compared to other benefics.
