Dear Naveen,
All politics and polytricks that we witness in the divinatory realm from which pure jyotish too does not remain untouched and unscathed and horror stories remain unexpressed since the practice is unregulated and sadly too much handled as a religion and faith-based -- this business about remedies and particularly gemstones is rather mysterious.
Much is claimed, nothing is documented in a manner that can be examined by other peers (as in peer-review) and yet jyotish is claimed to be science!
Sadly, most who seek remedies are so weakened and in a dire state that they often do not dare question the advisor and they often cannot pay so the vendor-buyer legal relationship cannot be established and so the confusion continues.
Further confounding is created by the fact that some of the readings and divinatory pronouncements and recommendations for gemstones are made using para and metasensory means and in some cases para-cognitive means too so it is hard to question.
Unfortunately as we have recently witnessed on this mystic board, regulators are still 'kachchaa' and very ad hoc and inconsistent in their regulation even of messages, the contents of which they really do not understand if they are astrological or what (astrology is a very vast field and if you ask an accountant to regulate engineering or medicine, it would not work and similarly if an engineer or accountant or programmer is let loose on medicine, again havoc and misinformation will ensue!)
The modern police force is facing this kind of problem daily and all over the globe! They are let loose without training or understanding and while my HAT is raised in bowed respect to all the Misirjees of the world, surely they deserve more than a Hercules bike to ride through the night and just use their strong VOICE to make sure that everyone that wants to be is AWAKE (jaagtay raho!).
That said, if you are rich and want to experiment, by all means find your astrologer who will recommend gems (try not to buy from the person or a jeweller recommended by him or her unless you know them well) but try and get some kind of guarantee since you will be sinking some pretty significant cash if you are trying to buy karma coupons!
Much has been written but very little accounted for where gemstones and other tonaa totkaas are concerned. And it is not something that shows up consistently or often enough in JYOTISH literature!
Chicken feet are a lot cheaper, even though messier!! This is not a recommendation but a caveat!!
