The mutually beneficial relationship is something I could never understand.I could understand it when I was working in the service industry where everything was about ROI.
But planned helping becomes like a calculated move and somehow the essence of helping goes out..just my thoughts.

what else can you do when the current societal trend is to treat anything which is free or comes at a nominal fee with disdain ?

Its always better to take the high middle ground, neither too cut throat, not too generous, unless you are a mahatma, a mortal of the highest order, I am SORRY I am not.

Projj...I dont blame you at all...because I too live in the same society and we share similar age experience. I was just expressing my thoughts..and I hope you didnt mind it.( Sunday here... so the householder is busy with house too)
I will take your advice and reduce my net hours...and increase my reading hours.
and regarding the Mahatama comment...I am def not and dont intend becoming one either...but trying to work on some middle ground.
Regards
Mjy.

I have to look at it as practice and personal growth...as described by others here.  I learn more by doing it than reading about it.  I try not to give less to anyone because of the attitudes of some that are objectionable to me.  But, I am not going to continue for that individual when I feel that my time is not valued as much as I value it myself.  That means that I keep a strict rein on the amount of time I'm willing to give to readings rather than choosing who to read for.  I agree that screening is valuable for personal consultations, and for that there is no doubt of my worth because they pay for it!    But, then, I give more time and effort for personal consultations, too.

Although, I am continually struck by the attitude by some that think that I am a trained monkey in the circus and am here to perform at their pleasure with near temper outbursts if answers, and the answers that are wanted, are not forthcoming the next time they sign onto the internet!  Yet, if I can't correct that impression, then perhaps I need to take a look at why I have not demanded respect.  That, ultimately, is my own fault for not correcting any abusive kind of expectations, just as a child is corrected who throws his plate at a wall because he doesn't like his vegetables.

Ultimately, when it is no longer fun for me, or when I am not getting something in return (even if it's learning or entertainment), then I won't be here.

I agree with Youdah, and I thought it was a well known fact that you learn much more by practice a thing then to just read about it.

Now, someone will say....since you start practicing,,,then you might not read any further,,,and you will only be a average in your trade.

This will depend on each person who study.....if your urge for more knowledge is good, you will always search for new challenges, and by that grow in your trade....both in knowledge and in how to use it, and it "fasten" much better to the brain, and open up for a better understanding of the harder part.

If you will be a master before you start to practice it, then you might have great knowledge....but since you only have study, you will need to learn how to implement it the best way.
So in the end it is up to the person how he develop...not the study method.

And I agree Youdha....
The most important thing is that the Reader feel comfortable, he/she must do it because he/she feel the urge....not because they feel it like a plight...if one feel both parts benefit from it, then it is great....but you are all the most important people on any site like this.

And yes....many of the seekers are rude....both in the way they request....and in the lack of gratitude after received....that might be the reason for the saying :

"Ingratitude is the salary of the world"

To be sure it is not MB's way....I will thank you all from my heart, for the service you do for the "seeking people"!

I think we should keep this as a sticky?
So that if anyone maybe feels this at any other point in the future they can have a quick look at this and all questions shall be answered!
