Dear jis,

Pranams. There are more than one Panchanga people use in India to come up with the horoscope. Though in the Rasi chart the planets seem to remain in the same house irrespective of whatever method they use, it often results in the planets occupying different houses in the divisional charts as every 3.2 degrees results in a change of house against 30 degrees in the Rasi chart.

I'm really confused which one the predictions should be based up on.
If any body can throw some light on this issue, it would be v.much useful to all beginners like me.

regards,
Gayathri

Dear gayatri,

Its great to see you contribute, You should look for panchang that is printed near to your nativity, then make a routine check on acceptibility of that panchang in the are and national level. If it meets the conditions its good to work on. I am glad for you , for you are thinking big now and making an effort to grab your share of fame & sucess that is meant for you.

Regards

Dear Sandhuji,
Namaskarams. With all your blessings, I'm trying to tune-up my mind to the frequency of free will. I pray God to shower his grace to continue to be like this...

I'm agreed to your statements. But most of the astrologers say that Vaakiya panchangam is more accurate than Thirukanitha panchangam. Moreover, most of the astrological software are based only on thirukanitha panchangam. What is the actual difference? Which is best to follow?

regards,
Gayathri

Hi Gayathri:

As a starting point to understand the concepts of panchangam, start with this link - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayanamsa.

If you understand the concept of "Ayanamsa", you will then be able to take the next step in understanding the differences between different panchangams. Start with the link above and use google.

I din't know anything about Vakiya and Thirukanitha panchangams but a search on the web landed at the page below. http://in.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080428100441AAcXLV7.
You will be able to make more sense out of it slowly as you grasp the concept of "Ayanamsa".

It might be overwhelming but take one step at a time and be patient. I had the luxury of my father explaining me the basics of Panchangam. Strong roots in the science of Panchangam will take you a long way in learning Astrology.

Good luck! And keep asking questions.

In the above post, the "full-stop" at the end of the sentence corrupted the link. Here are the working links.
