Hello Prasenjit:
I am a still a student learning the basics of Astrology. I wouldn't be able to help you with a reading but I just thought I should help you with your confusion. There is a parameter called "Ayanamsa" which is used to cast horoscopes. I encourage you to google the word and research about it to know what "Ayanamsa" is. If you search the mystic board forums, you will find few discussions about this topic as well.
Generally for lagnas and planets on the cusps, using different "Ayanamsas" may put the lagnas and planets in different houses on either side of the cusp. There are different "Ayanamsas" established by different authorities in vedic astrology. Different astrologers follow different "Ayanamsas" and that is the reason you have different ascendants mentioned by different astrologers (and softwares). Each astrologer has his(her) own beliefs and follows a school of thought and casts a horoscope in his way (depending on what his Guru taught or the books he followed). So leave it to the astrologer you approach to determine the ascendant.
Best Wishes,
Sagar
