This is Arti, a software engineer from Bangalore requesting a reading from an expert of Vedic Astrology. I was born on 20.11.1979 at 10:18 p.m. at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. My problem is related to my work life balance. I used to work for a company two years back but quit due to the birth of my son. Now this July, I resumed work but I am not happy and satisfied as my two year old son is alone at home with a nanny, from morning to evening. I am still waiting from an offer from another company, where I hope to get a more flexible schedule and better satisfaction regarding my personal life and security of my son. Please, advise me whether I should:
a. continue with my present job?
b. wait for the offer from the other company? do you see an offer coming in the near future?
c. or freelancing is a better option for me?
d. or I should stop working and be a full time mother?

Please help me on this, because I am very much confused and worried as the question is about a two year old child.

You may find difficulty to sticking to a job for too long unless you get all the attention or praise from your employer. Good choices of careers include interior designer, hairdresser, surgeon, singer or any artistic professions.

As a creative and sensitive person you are likely to get yourself involved in a profession related to beauty like fashion, jewelry, art galleries and specialties like a boutique, florist or even in theatre. Fashion designing, photography, arts and crafts, modelling or new technologies such as animation are also your best picks. choose a career which allows you diversity in work and an opportunity for advancement, therefore discouraging you from floating from job to job.

I can completely underrstand where you are coming from. This is a dilemma that all working mothers face. There is really no universal answer, as it depends on your personal financial situation, any family support to help bring up your child, your husband's viewpoint/support etc.

If your finances allow it I would imagine its best to do a job that offers flexible hours or do freelancing, until your child begins school. Once a child is going to school you will have the comfort that the child is in a structured constructive and nurturing environment. You can then spend quality time with your child.

It also helps to maintain some working life, which is why I suggest flexible or freelance work, as you will get some satisfaction from your job, which will make you a happier person, and therefore a better mother. However if the job is only giving you stress, you must evaluate the cost benefit.

This is just my humble opinion. I do not have the answers, so please take from this what suits you and discard the rest.
