I am a "beginning" Jyotish student--just began studying, reading books and discussing this spiritual science after a life crisis.  I firmly believe that the Divine Mother guided me to this study for a reason.  I'm hoping to develop an understanding of Vedic Astrology--not just for my own knowledge and self-development--but to be able to share this gift one day.
A VERY short background:  I have had a life of crisis, one after another.  Mainly since the age of 9. (the beginning of my Saturn Mahadasa I just discovered.)  My main questions and reasons for asking for a reason are, to me, (understand I have only been studying charts for a few months)--my chart doesn't look so bad??!!  Although I Do have 3 beautiful, mainly grown children--their Father kidnapped them and I didn't see them for quite a bit of 7 years.  (I had a miscarriage at 4 1/2 months in 2004) I myself was kidnapped in 2001 by a con man and taken to New York--only to be left in the streets with no money or anything else.  I've been through my home being destroyed by a tornado (1998)--2 weeks later I was thrown from a horse and fractured 3 vert.  A month later is when my ex (an abusive marriage) took my children.  
I have lost ALL my money and belongings 4 times in my adult life.  This past 1 1/2 yrs though have been the worst--mainly because it has been SOO hard to pull myself back up and find SOMETHING positive.  My fiance passed away in a freak accident Nov 5 2005--I lost his 3 children I had been caring for for 3 years and was adopting.  I also lost ALL of my belongings and somehow got saddled with thousands of dollars in bills.  I was diagnosed with terminal cancer 3 months later.  I tried to take my own life 6 months ago--I took enough pills to kill 3 horses....I woke up 24 hours later missing 2 teeth and a dislocated hip.  I never even went to the hospital.  Something happened in those 24 hours that has lead me OUT of the darkness, BACK into Life...and this study.
I have a little background in Eastern Philosophy--I have been studying it for 7 years, used to go to the Temple in New York every week where I learned meditation and the Pandits there gave me a LOT of reading material, classics, lessons in Sanskrit, Yoga... I then spent 2 years at an Ashram here in Pa. as a student and their Webmaster.
I have a college education and have excelled in several fields--mainly medicine.  I founded 2 not-for-profit organizations and co-founded one when I was just 17.  I have not worked since I left the Ashram because I had to go on disability.  I was born with a rare genetic disorder which is a degenerative connective tissue disorder as well as affecting my eyes (glaucoma) and I have only one kidney.

your badhaka MARS is in 8th house in mercury's constellation and it has caused miscarriages etc
and mercury is powerful in 11th house (own)

rahu & ketu in 1-7 (moved to 2-8 in bhava) and saturn viewing ketu from 5th has caused all problems with opposite sex

also SAT being Rx is causing more damage
JUP being Rx in own house can't help much but will only tend you towards spirituality,ashram life etc

since 2003 you've been under influence of Saturn (sade-sathi) and this went to its peak after may 2005, and this will end in 2nd half of 2009.

since saturn is Rx at birth it will cause more problems whenever it becomes Rx every year
right now sat is Rx since december 06  till april 20th 07
this period will be tough

you will be relived to some extent when saturn transits into leo by july 15th 07

also jupiter's transit into saggi by nov 23, will relieve you a lot

expect 2008 and 2009 to be much better
