The SUN rises at different times, in different places on any given day even in our small global village! The SUN remains constant where He is, it is the world that turns around and creates the illusion of sunrise! The illusion is not created by the SUN but where we individually are watching it from!

Tattwas and horas are timed to the local sunrise! Maybe that is fine, but if sunrise is the critical determinant, then does that mean that on this same earth, the tattwa rising in Delhi at a given instant is not the same as one rising in Mexico City?

At the same very instant? Does that make you stop and wonder?

Are these tattwas so local and regional? And erudite scholars have not in too recent past confidently claimed that they should be used for rectifying birth times! Based on gender and tattwa, and so on...!

Is this tattwa thing, related to local sunrise, so local as to not have any global importance or implications?

The rest of jyotish seems to be not so!

Gaj-keshari in the Chennai-born does not seem to be all that different from that in a Beijing-born or one born in London!

Would love to hear the thoughts of other members on the above matters.

I guess the tatwas and horas are more 'chara' than the the others.

Waiting to learn!

Yes, I think so too. Although their order of succession is sthira (constant). Although, even in that I have heard that some opine that the order reverses after sunset. In other words: Dwiswabhava!!

Same old story: Munday munday mati bhinna :-(

Dada,

I dont seem to follow tatwas much in practical life or in charts, as I do not find much practical use in it.

Maybe I have not learnt enough to understand/see its practical use; or maybe thought I could do without it ()

Even then, the order reversing thing understanding could be a bit longwinded; maybe based on some superstition maybe.
I had heard the same about some narayan dasas, but did not find it giving concrete results.

For most of us, Rishi, they do not mean much or anything or perhaps were meant to be!

For me, personally, as a growing Jyotishi, growing in my awareness, they suddenly opened a portal! Like many others, then, now and perhaps even will in future (unless MAYAN MYTH does us all in and Mayapuri closes -- <<NOT!>> ), it was also a 'wake-up-call'!

I began studying it from the point of view of rectification of birthtimes, but though it gave some good hints and direction, the BEE (Bhramari) was leading me elsewhere! Including 'painting fences' and as I painted the fence, completely bored by the task and because it was imposed upon me, more awakenings arrived, along with the BEE who was not there to scare me but to give good news! I wrote the first words that some of you might have read bemusedly as "Chela Tales" as it was later called and I think first posted here -- with the horribly smelling wood stain on that fence!

Too mysterious, too poetical, perhaps too mystical? Reality can be ALL OF THOSE and MORE! No need to hunt and waste time in the 9th dimension or 99th one! MA is simple, Her love is simple and She loves her children. Afterall, it was SHE who gave us birth and keeps us alive, does SHE not?

Surrender is not WEAKNESS, it is about LETTING-GO!

AGING of the SOUL, I suppose...

Tantrik shastras teach that if we pay attention, on most days, the breathing can be noted to switch sides. Left nostril, right nostril and both alternate. Vaidic tradition has names for those! I will leave you with that thought! My bias has been that unless we get our attention captured, we do not explore and then we do not learn. We are like cats in that sense! If you have a pet cat, observe how she sleeps most of the day and wakes up only when its interests could get met! Then she circles its owner-parent and so on. MA knows how to handle the situation, while giving gifts of LOVE to the kitty, but never too many or the kitty will turn into a FAT CAT. Always, relying on ready-made meals, and treats and forgets that SHE was born to be a hunter and explorer!

Tattwa-Breath-Prana-Chi/QI are all related! A dead man never breathes! Making the most of one's breaths while one has those is important and our Duty to MA who suffered a lot to produce and deliver us ALL ...!

Love, Light, Gratitude, Shaz... (password that came out of an act of free-will beautifully synchronizing, for me, with FATE and MAYA!),
