I have heard having Saturn in most houses is not favorable and also the 12th house is not usually a good position for any planet.  Hoping someone could shed some more light.

Saturn shows us the area which would cause delay in life; and therefore, stress.

This area needs a lot of care and 'consistent' effort in handling karma.

Another way I was seeing it was that Saturn is a planet of contraction and when place in a certain house (good/bad) would reduce the affects of that house.  So from that point of view its a good thing to have

The planetary astrological chess should perhaps be played or perceived as if the 'mohras' (pieces) have a mind and vitality of their own. Your logic is correct since saturn represents 'reduction-contraction-concentration-restrictions-restraint', so where it sits, it must reduce the expansion in that house! Saturn in 12th, by that reasoning must reduce expenses and losses, Saturn in 6th must reduce illnesses and enemies and number of servants-underlings, and Saturn in 8th must reduce longevity (ayu) and ability to do research etc.

But does it...?
