Since in Vedic Astrology, we're only influenced by the nine planets, must we therefore them and them only as deities and reject other gods (like shiva, vishnu etc.) because they aren't influencing us?

OK .  There are 10 planets at this system with Sedna .  There's X Y and Z . . . ,

If a Deity were attributed to each planet of the leader of World Religion and the
religion setting of the presumed 4 races of Vedic Modern were a Heaven for the
four deities of each sub-religious group such as the modern Multi-Faith God Deit
being : Jehovah , Buddha , Allah , Indian [I say Indra] and the faith Hishintu ...,
and the System of astrology we live at with 9 planets older ways .,. began Anew
paradigm 25 planets in 2 system and 400~ some planets in 10 system .,. Aomen

., will we ask the Planet each represent the Heaven [known to me as S~Heaven]
of each Deity as astrologically promoted as the Deit of each planet of extended~
astrology .|. will the elder Vedic Brahma Vishnu Shiva be represented as Image:
God as the Travel of Pantheon Before Modern Heaven protected by older Gods .,

Will the Heaven promoted Shivan of the Theater of Shiva be destructive .,. What
will the Heaven Accord want with new spaces transit to find new system planeted
at the stars known as astrologically the local constellations .|. If a Deit will be @!!
attributed to a planet each and the four other races not by skin tone tho with The
Promonent Religion of the other faiths of Deities before Pantheon form of the old
Deities worshipped before Monotheism [7 Heaven and 7 God by each name] aum

Will the Polytheism become Henotheism [described as the God and lesser deities]
with henotheist regard to begin Pantheon polytheism Vedic Oldest example Shiva
as the power not destroying though known as the Theater Image Shiva Brothers.

Though the Vedic Astrology is rotating around the 9 planets, it is not correct to ask why should we pray other GOD.

Lets take an example: Lets assume we all working in company.  Our immediate superior instruct us to prepare a report.  While we are continuing our work based on the instruction of immediate superior, our Managing Director / Chairman instruct us to prepare some other report.  We all human being and immediately prepare and submit the report required by Managing Director / Chairman rather than our immediate superior.  Because, Managing Director / Chairman is vested with more power and authority than our immediate superior.  

Similarly, though the 9 planets governs us, it is like our immediate superior but not like Managing Director / Chairman - God.

Thus neglecting the prayer of GOD / Supreme Power is not correct.... We need to pray both 9 planets and apart from that supreme and ultimate power - GOD like Shiva, Vishnu etc.

I would recommend you to read concept of pratyadi devta etc.; 9 plantes by virtue of position or motion indiacte what is imminent in ones' life. They are not the real giver or taker. It is  ones' own karma which lets you take and give.
Also vedic astro itself has pravdhan of this kind. You must have heard of this in case you have some affliction of house or planet , you first like to make happy the lord of that house and its gururupa.If that is not workable becuz of its own weakness, you try to take help from bhava karaka and worship pratyadi devta.
These are pratyadi devta of karaka

Sun - Shiva

Moon - Mata Gouri

Mars - Bhagwan Rudra

Mercury - Bhagwan Vishnu

Jupiter - Sri Sadashiva

Venus - Mata Lakshmi

Saturn - Bhagwan Vishnu

Rahu - Srimati Durga

Ketu - Sri Ganesha  

If for some reasons Karaka are afflicted as well,you go a step higher that
You will have to worship bhava devta for particular afflicted bhava:
Bhav devtas list:
First house : mata Gayatri
fourth house :mata gauri
tenth house : mata saraswati
seventh house:mata lakshami

second, fifth, ninth, tenth, eleventh : Vishnu .His dedicated worship
fixes five houses simulatenously.

sixth, eighth , twelveth : Bhagwan Shiva and Durga

When you dont know details of horoscope, a simple rule that you are afflicted in health , roga ,shatru, court cases, disease and all drastically draining issues of 6th , 8th and 12th houses...Kailashpati is the only one who needs to be remembered first of all and so on.
If you worship devtas directly and not planets , you will still be okay.
