An eclipse can astrologicallyaffect a person in two ways

1 one can be born at the time  when an eclipse was taking place
This usually brings with it some life long abnormality relating to the affairs of the house in which it take place. One must however remember that even though a lunar eclipse afftects two house,the house in which Moon is placed gets more seriously affected

The effect of the solar eclipse is more intense than the Lunar eclipse . The solar eclipse primarily  affects one at the sul level while the Lunar eclipse affects one at the mental level. The ecllipse thus bring some distortion into the solar and lunar part of one's nature. They usually make one sensitive  to unseen realms and other realities  but at the same time  make one prone to emotional and psychological disturbances fears and phobias, isolation , lunacy , hallucnination, illusion, paranoia and other such states by the negative functioning of the nodes.

They usually bring some problem in the relationship with parents. It is mostl likely with mother in case of a Lunar eclipse and with the father in case of a Solar eclipse. A lot of times such natives are brought up by surrogate parents or relatives

The eclipses bring either fortune or misfortune relating to the significations of the house in which they take place. This usually manifest through a sudden event or series of events.

The eclipses have more intense effects if they take place over improtant natal positions like . Ascendant, Midheaven and middle pointo of houses. As usual, the effects are stongest in case of exact  conjunctions but they are significantly noticeable within a 5 degree orb. In certain  cases where they happen in exact  conjuntion with points like one's ascendant they can completely change the life of a native involved.

When eclipses take place over  natal planetary positions they bring some forutnate or unfortunate event relating to the natural and tempeoral significations of that planet. If an eclipse takes place over natal venus one may experience a sudden improvement in venusian matters  like relations with oppsite sex and the affairs of the house in which venus is placed also imporve. In other cases the same transit may signal the complete blocking of venusian energy leading to frustrations in all the above mentioned matters.

A general rule to remember is that the eclipses which involve Rahu as the central planet can be said to function ina similar way to Rahu, while the eclipses which involve Ketu as central planet can be said to function in a similar way to ketu. For example if Lunar ecllipse occurs with transiting moon conjunct ketu over a natal planet, then its effects will be similar to ketu transiting over natal planet

Another rule which has been seen to work well is that the effect of the Solar eclipse last for the number of years equalling the number of hours its last
