In my research, I have found disconnect between the native's desires, expectations level
and her ability to realize them is a primary cause of discontent. So I am trying
to figure out an algorithm to delineate the extent of native's
desires/expectations from the chart.

Starting off, one might look at the kama houses (3,7 and 11) along with the
ashtakvarga points for each of these house. Also rahu needs a closer look in the
chart. What else do you think needs to be examined ?

Should it not that one needs to see the influence of the  depositor of  lord of houses you referred, where in it placed. Not only that the placement of the lord of such houses in Navamsa and the depositor of that Navamsa where it is placed in Rasi

For instance if the 3rd lord is Mars and is placed in Leo Navamsa, then placement of Sun in Rasi and accordingly the its role in rasi needs to be studied

As far desire is concerned one needs to see the 5th house and the karmastana too. That is my view, but I stand corrected , if someone has contradictory view

Hi Proj and Govardhanji ,

I am inclined to study Rahu's position interms of bhava position, and sign position for the main direction.

The 3rd. would show how much grit we would use to go ahead to achieve the 'greed'.

The positions from karaka lagna would show how much it would be frustrated or made happy.

But this ashtavarga thing you say seems quite novel. Could you explain why you think so?

@govardhantji

When I mentioned those houses, I meant looking at them from all angles. i.e. lords etc.

@rishirahulji

I think SAV points are important indicators as seen from various charts examined, would appreciate if you verify from charts in your database as well. Forgot the definition of karaka lagna, please refresh.

@ramandeep

I am not sure how else to better explain my question, think of ravana, someone with ten heads i.e thinking overtime, usurps brother's self made kingdom, abducts other's wife, basically greed in common parlance, not just greed, all enticing greed.  Or say, American president( a country with 5% of world population and controlling 25% of world resources) still wanting a better standard of living for his countrymen, blames the developing world for eating more food, therefore jacking up food prices.
