Is Vedic astrology the best?

I am wondering, because I have studied Western astrology very in-depth, and I love it! I too "swear by it". But, I haven't studied any other types of astrology... so, is Vedic something I should look into? I love learning new ideas, and am very open. I don't think Western is the only way by any means! I've simply enjoyed it & found it useful so far.
Can anyone give me any experiences or opinions? Have you studied more than one type? And which ones do you like best?
Thanks!!!

Vedic is the one with the most depth but western astrology is more well organized, in fact anything western is, that's one of the strengths of the west.

Vedic is much more accurate. Consider this:

Vedic uses fixed stars as it's alignment. The stars do not change positions over time.
Western uses the planets. Planets change positions. Western does not account for this. (Aries is the 'starting' point on the charts. It's set to 0 when the sun crosses the equator.)

Earth's equator shifts every year.
Vedic accounts for the tilt of Earth's axis.
Western doesn't. (Your 'sign' in Western is different in Vedic due to this.)

Vedic has been around for centuries, dating back before the Egyptians, and hasn't changed.
Western hasn't stayed constant. It has come and go, always changing throughout its history.

Both have their strong points. Both are very useful and worth learning.

***I actually did a research paper on Vedic Astrology last semester in comparison to Western Astrology for a college class. (I got a 100 on it.)

Although Vedic is more accurate in timing events, it takes a lot of hard work and experience to be able to fully utilize its timing capabilities. I know quite a few American astrologers who are proficient in Vedic. I think Sam Geppi and Barbara Pijan are the best, you can google them to find out more about their work. Another name which deserves mention is Rohiniranjan, his freely available Crystal pages jyotish primer is a good place to start.

A lot of Vedic study material is available for free but it's very disorganized and philosophically very deep which makes it all the more challenging. Vedic astrology is very intricately linked with Vedic philosophy, it's called the "eye of the Vedas" and the two go together. Vedic philosophy or the way of life it recommends can appear very counter intuitive to the average westerner since the western way of life is very spiritually ambivalent although sometimes high on charity in full public view, misses the true essence of spirituality. I say this because I have met western astrologers who claimed to have studied Vedic astrology but have mostly misinterpreted the entire body of knowledge with their understanding of Vedic philosophy or the lack of it and are charging couple hundred dollars for their readings when all they are using for their readings is barely the tip of the iceberg.
