Explanation of Rahu and Ketu

The mythology of Rahu and Ketu echo throughout the entire foundation of Vedic Astrology.  It revolved around a entity that desired to become as powerful as the God's.  Vishnu supposedly split Rahu in half, living two entities that were once one floating.... always longing to reconnect itself.

The myth really does help when trying to understand the fundamentals of how the two nodal points. They are two points in the chart of every native that defines the purpose and ego structure of an individual.  These two nodal points are always in opposition(7 houses from each other).  I've always found that looking at Rahu in the 1st house and Ketu in the 7th house as a defining situation of house the nodes work(being that the first house dictates the entire structure and temperament of an individual).  This means when Rahu is in the 1st house, the pure essence of Rahu comes to the forefront of a person's personality.  In the first house Rahu signifies a desire for self importance and identity, and Ketu in the 7th would cause a disassociation with the matters of the 7th house(which signifies the partnerships and the relationships that one has with people).  The secret behind Rahu and Ketu is the illusion that they relay to the native.  Rahu in the 1st house tries to create an identity that is 100% separate from the outside world.  It wants to be something of great importance.  Yet as time goes on, the native will continually try to reassure himself of his importance, always trying to expand his sense of self.  The reason the native can never come to satisfaction is the continual gnawing that Ketu does.  Ketu keeps sending the message to the native that he is not of individual importance, but his identity is the result of the group.  The desire to escape Ketu continually pushes the person to define himself.  If the significations are right in a person's chart,  the person will finally surrender to Ketu after a realization that the effort is of futility.  The identity can never escape outside influence, as everything is one.  There is always a tie between desire and disconnection.

This is exceptionally accurate...

Though I wish I could stop the "surrender to Ketu". Please let me provide 2 bits from my angle: people (family) pouncing on me to take credit for whatever little success I have had...Even brothers who were not able to make anything of their own selves. I let them have it. It frustrates me to no end as noone supported me.

Although the post is a wonderful piece of analysis, a couple points if I may, first more than mere house consideration is required for this analysis for e.g. Rahu is first house in Saggi and rahu in first house in Gemini are not the one and same thing, so the analysis needs to be tweaked accordingly. Moreover, a balance between being unique and being part of a group, herd mentality if you will is the ultimate goal, not one or either.

Thanks and regards,
