Dear All,

Sage parashara clearly mentioned to his disciples that the knowledge of Jyotish Shastra is to be guarded and handed down through generation only to the people who will use it for the good of humanity.

Doesn't the publication of scores of books on this vedanga put it at everyone's disposal? Authors of the books in publication are esteemed astrologers.

I do believe that the essence of astrology is understood deeply or grasped only by person with a deep sense of intuition and clean mindedness.

However, day by day more and more books are coming out which spoon feed the art of jyotish to people in terms of several combinations. How true these combinations are.. i have no idea about and do not prefer to read.

I am not able to perceive the kind of problems that will result from feeding knowledge to people like 8th house rahu indicates bad in life and heightened sexual interest.. sex mania even. I'm referring to the thin books on astrology which contain a list of such combinations only.

Even in the reading forum, i see several queries from people who have 8th house rahu and after reading in some astro magazine or book belonging to friend, they are worried. I have even witnessed judgement of another person's character by a few people who have really no knowledge of astrology but base it on what they read and even convince the other person by showing them the books.

I also know a few people with base characters who are gorging down volumes on astrology.

Not to mention, i personally once read in one such book of a combination which pertains to my own chart. A pretty complex combination i must say...involving several planets and it has created a fear (unnecessarily i believe) somewhere in a corner of my mind regarding my own self. The author is a very experienced astrologer without doubt (i would not like to mention the book or author).

Just like astrology there are bundles of book on almost every subject .. take for example... Neurology...........
Do you think people by just reading them one can become a good neurologist.. not really ....RIGHT!!!

So availability of these books may SPOON fed astrologer or seekers with data but it depends upon the individual's capability and desire to convert that into real information.

For example:- Take a book on any dasa system, be it narayana dasa, chara dasa, sthira dasa , yogini dasa etc....

Do u think by just reading this book it becomes easy to apply them to a chart..
Trust  me.. not at all... till the time u understand every bit of it with your own practice and intensity...strong desire with focussed mind only can lead
you to this...also we require almighty's blessing for it..

Moreover, Sage parashar did provide us with BPHS with a view that we can read from it but only few will really decipher it

so should i chant OM and clear myself everyday with the one pointedness the sound OM carries. ie without jerks in the sound.
is cultivation of longer span of attention is what is intuition ?

please enlighten.

I think the comment is an indication that jigyasu has not understood the concept of intuition.

Jigyasu, as far as i know, no amount of chanting mantras will help. BPHS  mentions certain combinations in horoscope for capacity of astrologer to dispense accurate astrological predictions and gives significance to Moon (mainly) and Jupiter.
