Dear CRS ji

If you like i would like to reply to your query wrt narayana and the ayanamsa factor

And also the fact about the kaliyuga period

I strongly believe that the things are ultimately encoded in vedas

Thanks Projenatorji,

A very thoughtprovoking and interesting essay indeed.

This brings up a question in my mind, Is/Are any of ur ayanamsha/s to be reset to zero in 2012? If not, other than the end of yugas, are there any specific years when the ayanamsha is to be reset to 0?

CRS

CRSji,

I am glad that you spent some time wondering about after effects from a Vedic perspective. I am sure you are aware Ayanamsa ( from ayana "movement" and aṃsa "component") is the Sanskrit term for the longitudinal difference between the Tropical (Sayana) and Sidereal (Nirayana) zodiacs. Ayanamsa has nothing to do with the calender per se. Another very logical question might pop up as to how this entire phenomenon is going to affect Vedic calculations. The Vedic scholars have used this phenomenon to signal a change of yuga, you can find more on this at http://2012answers.info

hope this helps.

Let me put down my understanding (or the lack of it ). obviously to be corrected.

Ayanamsha is caused by precession and the point of reference that is used is equinox which may not correspond to 1 deg of capricorn which is the winter solstice. Nevertheless since the entire precession cycle takes 26000 years and one such is completing in 2012 from whatever reference point that Mayans took, I assume that this cycle should be completed for vedic reference point also in some other year when we need to reset the ayanamsha to zero. I wanted to know which year is this and whether vedic reference to apocalypse (pralaya) are linked to this year.

Dear All

With respect to mayan calendar i was watching a program on natgeo there a researcher said that this calendar does not end there infact it is wrongly interpeted as there calendar consisted of other factors too the link to which is missing other than that the continuation is available

A thought provoking thing related to so called doomsday did any one thought that what after kaliyuga

In past i think greats rishi knew that space is not constant so the ayanamsa factor was introduced in astrology so i think it is also called narayana which is always moving in bhramanda or we say space few days back i was lisening to panditji mp3 where he said about the meaning of AUM which is bhrama vishnu mahes which is also defined in vedas that they are creator sustainer and destroyer and intrestingy same the so called scientists are saying that in space there are only three actions are going on of some creation sustainance and destruction

Will put more on my understanding correct me if i am wrong

mayans are justifying what hindu mythology said.

All planets are revolving in Milky/Ksheera ocean. Vaikuntam is in middle of ocean. There snake called Vasuki where Maha vishnu is sleeping

Milky way --> Milk /Ksheera Ocean
Snake in Osbosos shape. Middle of the snake womb / flattened is veikunta where mahavishnu

Mayan's saying that sun's triple borth will happen as he passes thru middle of snake. ( visit veikunta and get blessings of maha vishnu). A start of of new Yuga
End of the Mayan calendar on Dec 20, 2012
