Not too sure about the world but analysis of the USA vedic chart tells me some significant changes in the offing for the USA and Americans in general. Americans will have to collaborate more with foreigners/foreign cultures and will have to forgo the air of superiority or dominance, if you will. The process has already started and the next four years will see significant shifts in American foreign policy. The painful change will start in 2012 with the onset of period of Rahu, which is in the eighth house of USA chart. Eighth house signifies end of a phase and beginning of new one but the change is always painful, very frustrating and full of hindrances. Rahu also signifies foreigners, so they will have an increasingly prominent role in American life. My guess is due to the slowdown in US economic growth and increasing competition from Asia, Americans will have to do with less and that will be very frustrating. Recently we heard President Bush saying that India and China are eating more, so food prices are going up. Similar frustrations will be felt in other areas as well as American consumers are forced to cut down on their lavish spending although, I must say it will take a while for the Americans to realize this. The next four years is the period of Mars, which is posited in the seventh house of partnerships and lords both fifth and twelfth houses. Twelfth house signifies foreign lands and cultures (let me clarify here that an african american or asian american is not a foreigner) while fifth house among many other things, signifies pleasures, so Americans will still be in party mode until 2012 when eighth house gets activated for the next 16 years. From 2028, period of jupiter will start, jupiter rules the ascendant and the fourth house of true contentment, so Americans will come out wiser (jupiter is the significator of wisdom) having realized what true contentment is all about.
