Hi Priyanka,
There r actually 28 Nakshatras.Including Abhjit Nakshatra, which is the 28th Nakshatra. It cumes in between 21st and 22nd Nakshtra.

u can also read it from here and small part of it is mentioned as follows:-

Used in the Kalachakra and Sarvatobhadra Chakra besides many other nakshatra dasa.

Moon requires 27 days 7 hrs. and 38 min to complete a transit of the sidereal zodiac. The Vedic seers devised a wonderful way to accommodate this additional time of 7 hr 38 minutes by defining an extra nakshatra called ‘Abhijit’, which was used to define spirituality or Vishnu. The muhurta associated with this nakshatra rules at midday and all evils are destroyed. The Sun at midday, in any sign, is in the tenth house and hence, this nakshatra was placed in Capricorn, the tenth house of the natural zodiac between the 21st Nakshatra Uttarasadha and the next Sravana.
The span of Abhijit was defined as comprising the last quarter (3 degrees 20’) of Uttarasadha and the first one-fifteen the part ( 0 degrees 53’20”) of Sravana. Thus, the Span is 4 degrees 13’20” from Capricorn 6 degrees 40’ to
10 degrees 53’20”.  This gives the 28 Nakshatra.

The deity of the Abhijit nakshatra is Hari, the undefeated Lord.

Hope your query is solved

Raman

Dear Raman,
Good too see u posting again, and questioning the old methods once again, but dont u think the 28 belief , spoils the harmony of number9 , 9 planets,
108 divisions, 360 degrees etc etc. May i know on what principle is your belief is  based on.

Dear raman,

As far as i understand the post Rishi rahul ji, has added one nakshatra named abhijit nakshatra for the purpose of dealing with dashas like kaal chakra ,Sarvatobhadra Chakra besides many other nakshatra dasa.
But what i want to ask is how many of our present astrologers barring a few know how to use these dasa systems. Hope you get my point. Let me quote  Kn rao on number of nakshatras.

In Astrology Lesson 2 we will learn about Nakshatras and do some astrological exercises to deepen our understanding of the concepts we have learnt.
Nakshatras
Now you must know something about the twenty-seven nakshatras. Each nakshatra takes 13 degrees and 20 minutes uniformly. If 13'20 is multiplied by 27 it gives you 360 which is the total equal to the twelve houses referred to earlier.
There are two methods of tabulating these Nakshatras.

the 28th nakshatra...abhijit...is important for muhurta purposes (electional astrology) only... certain things are forbidden while for others the time is considered good ... when the moon traverses this nakshatra... for strict astrological point of view only 27 nakshtras are considered....
total no of nakshatra?
