I was curious to know if there has any study been conducted on this.For example can the mahabharata war war be dated.

On boloji.com, astrology section is an article which you may wish to read. It deals with Mahabharata.

In Astrological Magazine too articles on the topic appeared over the last few decades. How to get those might be a challenge.

KN Rao writes on mundane astrology and in his writings you may find some material related to the topic.

I am informed that astroligy can predict wars... it is said that the times of mahabharata / ramayana are all predicatable. It is also said that the date, time and all can be calculated. It dates ie. birth / death and other occassion relating to these periods are calculated and thus we are abe to celebrate diwali on the night of amavasya and not on purnima and so on.
