Hi Everyone,

I was going through a book by KN Rao ji.There he had tried to explain about relationship between different planets and reasons behind them being enemy or friends..

According to him we have to consider mooltrikona sign of a planet to understand about his relationship with different planet. He had mentioned that lords of 2,4,8,12,5 and 9th signs from a sign are friends of a planet of whom that sign is mooltrikona AND 3,6,11,7,10 are enemies of that planet. The one which is repeating itself for a friend or an enemy makes that planet GREAT friend or enemy of that planet(whose mooltrikona sign it is) and the one which is common for both enemy and friend becomes neutral. For example :- Jupiter(5th and 8th lord) and mars(4th and 9th lord)Sun's(Leo's Lord) great friends and Venus(3rd and 11th lord)and Saturn (6th and 7th lord)greatest enemy of Suns....According to BV Raman ji Jupiter and Saturn are neutral rather than being great friend and great enemy respectively.

What i didnt understand is how come 8th and 12th lord be friends of a planet and how come kendra lord be(7th and 10th house)be enemy of that planet....
If we see the relationship also we will see that 6-8 relationship is something not so good and neither is 2-12 relationship.
Same thing about (but in opposite sense)10-4 and 7-7 relationship that they r more friendly or supportive relationships.

One more thing why are we considering mooltrikona sign of a planet and not own house or house of exhaltation(being much better place of planet being happy and strong as mentioned be KN Rao ji).

Please explain.

Regards,
Raman

Beautiful question! Bravo Raman!!

Is Mr. KN Rao saying the same as was described in BPHS or is this a slightly different take?

Could you please check and report back. Thanks

Guess where are the following statements taken from?

"Natural friends of a planet are the lords of 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th and 12th from its moolatrikona sign, and the lord of the sign where it is exalted; natural enemies are the lords of the remaining houses. Temporary friends are planets placed in 2nd, 3rd, 4th,10th, 11th and 12th sign from a planet. There are variations in different texts for the moolatrikona degrees. The ones shown here
are from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, the authoritative reference that we would recommend for Jyotish.
 "

NATURAL   TEMPORAL     RESULTANT

Friend       Friend            Very friendly
Neutral     Friend             Friendly
Friend       Enemy           Neutral
Enemy      Friend            Neutral
Neutral     Enemy            Inimical
Enemy      Enemy            Very inimical
