[quote="prasanna"]thank u rrji for posting , spending time for beginners like me, it is really very interesting. i assure u ,i will analyse hereafter only thro this forum and wont encourage people who ever asks private help, so that i can also correct myself, and can improve the knowldege in this subject matter.

Thank you Prasanna! Not sure if I read this post earlier or not ...! Sorry if I did not reply earlier. I post another quote from you posted somewhere here which I will reply to after the quote below in respecting your wish quoted above!

Retrogration of planets:
Mars retrogrades for 72 days every 25.6 months.
Jupiter for 121 days every 13.1 months.
Saturn for 138 days every 12.4 months.
Uranus for 151 days every 12.15 months and
Neptune for 158 days every 12.07 months.

Retrograde motion simply means that a planet ONLY appears to be moving backwards in its orbit. This is only because planets orbit the sun at different speeds.
From : Retrograde motion is cause by one planet "catching ...
Retrograde motion is cause by one planet "catching up" to another planet, because of the difference in their orbital speeds. It is like this: One person is on the highway traveling 70 mph. Another person ahead of them is traveling 65 mph. To the first person, it looks like the other is reversing direction, but isn't, an effect of the deifference of speed between the two cars.

Think of it this way:
Because the planets are all orbiting the sun in the same direction, we generally see them in the sky as moving west to east. However, there are certain times when we are catching up and passing the other planets - this can really only be seen with the outer planets as we pass them on the "inside track" - although it occurs with the inner planets as well. When that occurs, those planets appear to move east to west for a few weeks or months - then return to their normal direct apparent motion. This why the ancients called the planets "wanderers."

Some nice information up there!
Please do not get confused in the technicality of retrogression, for it is the most obvious MAYA in jyotish! Reminds me of the hindi saying: Dubidha (dwi = two, vidha = understanding/learning = confusion!) mein dono gaye: Maya mili naa Ram!!
First principle: The entire movement of planets is unreal or biased because it uses the geotopical perspective! Earth at the center of the Universe! The most basic premise of sun going through 12 signs in what we designate as a YEAR is really a reality created by the earth moving around the sun! This was a big clue for me once to not marry, as many do, the vimshottari dasa of moon with the solar year! Subject for another tirade, some other time!!
Second Principle: Due to the motion of the earth, bodies progress directly as they move towards the east. BECAUSE EARTH moves from east to west as it views the sun! The east and west orient from the ecliptic, the zodiacal belt, that is created by the apparent motion of sun and its declination but really is created by the motion of the earth as it tilts this way and that way six months each year giving us the seasons!
Third Principle: From heliocentric perspective no planet is retrograde. All planets except sun and moon have retrograde motion. Sun does not because it is the arudha of earth! Moon does not because of the same reason why sun does not see anything retrograde! That which is truly in center will not see directionality changing around it. That which is not in the center but thinks it is (earth) shall see directionality changing around it! Since earth is truly in the center of moon's orbit, moon is never seen as retrograde. Someday we will delve into the philosophical angle of this astronomical reality!
Fourth Principle: From the earthly perspective there are two perspectives. The outer planets (mars and up) appear to be retrograde when the faster planet earth tries to catch up to them and run faster and leave them behind in the race. It is like a younger brother trying to compete with its elder brothers and in doing so it becomes the most distant from father! Hence outer planets go retrograde when they are opposite to sun (6,7,8the houses therefrom). In other words they are with earth!
Fifth Principle: The second perspective: the inner planets are like younger siblings as earth the middle brother watches them. When they go behind the sun, the planets are seen as direct and that is where "the brats belong -- out of sight!". But when they come on this side and block the view of the parent, sun, and get in between earth and sun, they suddenly are in your face, right in your line of sight and between you and your object of love and nourishment! Hence perceived as powerful and stronger! And yet if one thinks for a second, they are then closer to the earth! Perhaps that is why they have been thought to influence more strongly when they are retrograde?
/ga and discuss amongst yourselves!
