To determine the Vimshopaka strength of a planet(according to BPHS) points have awarded for it's placement in the various houses but there is no mention of how much points has to be awarded when a planet is in its exaltation sign, debiliation sign and mooltrikona sign. Now if Vimshopaka strengths of planets are determined ignoring the above mentioned placements of the planets I believe it will not show the true strength of the planets.

Would be glad if anyone can help me understand this.

Dear Basab,

There *is* such mention! I recall distinctly that this is in Sharma's version/translation of BPHS -- which I lean towards as being richer than the other legitimate and questionble web-versions freely available (they are similar to trying to do a library search for pithy, definitive scientific evidence on wikipedia, the range of quality VARIES, if you catch my drift!

Mind you, I am going by my recollections and you may still find that the issue is not fully resolved because BPHS does have some time-bombs which could give a lot of trouble to one learning jyotish using the analogy: Putting all eggs in the same basket!

I am sorry if this is creating anguish as opposed to answers! My intent has always been the very opposite but please excuse me if I could not serve you properly...

The focus of Vimsopaka Bala is the Rashi sign in differen vargas.
A graha is  strong in this scheme when it occupies its Exaltation, Mooltrikona etc in various vargas. For example, if Sun is in its Mooltrikona in Raashi, navamsha, dashamsa and so on , it keeps getting stronger in the Vimsopaka Baala scheme. The maximium strength in this scheme actually fixes the strongest point of a particular graha in the zodiac. Infact, the Mooltrikona takes precedence over the deep exaltation point.
Sun, for example, is at its strongest in Vimsopaka when it just enters Leo each year. For then, it is either in Leo or in Aries or Sag etc in most of the vargas.
It has a downside too though, Sun entering Leo is a sankranti where the change is also considered to be an inauspicious gandanta position!
From the Watery Cancer to the Fiery Leo.
Jyotish always has more than one answer to any explanation.
The division and the swarabhanu, ranjanda?

But seriously -- and all kidding aside, By Golly ...!

While delineative processes and protocols would vary from reader to reader, what we would all need to remember is what we all do in each or at least most cases ...

Do we look at vargas first or balas or charakarakas or lagnas or moon or sun or lagnesha or what?

Let each of us take a moment to somberly think about and recall what we individually do when we seriously turn towards a chart, once it is made by software or whoever.

In some cultures and religions, when food is placed in front of us, there is an expectation if not requirement to thank Divinity. It is a learned behaviour and cultivated over years, sometimes forgotten and punished etc.

Have you ever seen or experienced a hungry infant feed?

Despite his brutish behaviour, did you take a moment to look at the Mother's beaming face?

Those who are all knowing and all grown up and not infants, or mothers -- hopefully are not reading this post!
