[quote="projenator"]It's not their fault. It's the environment and extreme pressures to conform, more so in North America. Remember that great saying by Ramakrishna Paramhansa
"Pankal mach panke thake, kintu tar gaye pank ti lage na"
easier said than done, especially in today's superficial world of crass marketing. All that glitters is not gold, the earlier you realize that in life, the better.
To all the parents out there, they need not worry. Time is the greatest teacher. Intelligent folks learn by keenly observing other's mistakes, the average learn through their own mistakes, the dumb never learn. I rest my case.

BUT such is the MAYA of this REALity, Proj that also brought these words from another down to earth saint!
Kajar ki kothri main kaiso hi jataan karo, kaajar ka daag bhai laagey hi laagey!
Transliterated into english, this means very similar to the saying: a man is known by the company he keeps!
This is where dilemma arises! Does one listen to and follow the "guru-of-the-world and worldly" (Kaajar etc...) or does one follow the transcendent, paankal maach or the other metaphor: The lotus that grows in muddy ponds but does not belong there! Hence called Pankaj!!
Both are right as Gurus always are! But which REALITY has the disciple set his mind, heart and more importantly SOUL upon?
Life's paths are always simple, straight, crystal and clear, the WALKING is not!
My Dad gave me a *mantra* even before that question/quandry ever arose in me?
He used to quote a scientist, who said: Chance favours a prepared mind!
And another saying that went like this,"Opportunities likely get stepped upon by those who keep on stepping!"
Was more convincing because his life was not a page from ancient history or a figment of my imagination!
I am grateful indeed ...
