Dear Dada,

I wish ("stop while you can")  that were so simple.  

Getting a book and studying is a conscious decision.  That I have postponed so far.  

But putting a brake on astrology discussion and stopping all those few rare moments where I get some cerebral exitement..... don't know if I could stop it.

Anyway, I have not planned much in life... it just happened so far.  God has given most of the things the way he planned.  Whenever I planned & got something -  that have been disastrous.  Let astrology and related learning be also go that unplanned  way.

I know I have not been a serious student so far in life.... too casual ,... I guess.  Not the best thing.   Pardon me for being that.

Actually the very ones that can dare be disrespectful to the BOOK while loving what it encapsulates, what it represents is what matters!

Strangely it brings to mind this analogy!

It is like someone teasing all through their life their sister and yet when the time comes being willing to give one's life for her happiness and well-being!

I guess you are right on that analogy.

I used to think that most of these classics must be 800+ pages thick, each.  And too many classics .....

Yesterday, I downloaded a free version of BHPS from Scribd (mysticboard provided the link.). It showed something like 165 odd pages. Similarly downloaded Phaldeepika..(265 odd pages). Bhavartha Ratnakar also is slim in volume.

Dada, my question is, are these versions are complete (content-wise) ? If that is so, not much studying is involved it seems. I can handle that much studying.  The feeling I got so far is ...as a starting point, astrology involves studying minimum 30+ books, each sizing up to two bricks at least !

Just a bit away from the topic... this reminded me of a story from childhood.  A boy describing the study of 'Dhatu Roop' of Sanskrit language .. said "The books are as heavy as Dhatu (metal) and when dropped in water, sink like proper Dhatu. When the Teacher hits me with that book.... the feeling is similar" .  

I guess I am  afraid of  thick books too ! And also I don't know sanskrit and hence have to rely fully on English Translation.
Could you also please provide the names of Books I should stuy as a beginner ?
