I am new to the forum and just went through some posts on the main forum. There was a fascinating discussion on the implications of retrogade planets. The thread was started by progenator who asked a question about an exalted planet being retrogade.

A key theme was that retrogession is some influence from the past. Do you think this ties in well with KN Raos belief that a retrogade planet is basically just has an additional aspect from the previous sign.

Also would readers have specifc views about retrogession of planets such as yogakarka Saturn,  Vargottama Mooltrikona Mars?

In my horoscope a lot of planets are retrogade and the ones that are not are debilitated  and to make things more interesting a  lot of them are in dusthanas LOL. But things havent been that bad ..yet!!

So be very interested in your views.

I have refereed some classical texts which had a variety of meanings....

retro planets are more powerful......They acquire what is known as cheshtabala so in a way it can be tricky ...Their effects could be tricky
Also another classical text says..retro planets undoubtedly denote gains of power and psotion....
i was taught in astro calsses that such planets which are retro their phals or results are also felt in unconventional manner...

i have jupiter retro and am running the jupiter mahadsha ..i can feel the effects are funny and odd at times.....may be...we can only say it is likely that these are true...
lord brahma alone knows hat he proposed though

       Retrogression, I feel is one of the most least understood topics in jyotish. I have tried to read a lot about it and while one gets to see a lot of one off comments attributing chestabal to retrogression or some sort of increase in strength, i am sorry to point out, it's not that easy. My experience in looking at charts is that these folks behave somewhat differently, the ones which really throw me off are retrograde and exalted/debilitated and I have encountered at least three charts with such cases in the recent past.  You can read the post I started and elaborated by thomas mack where he tried to explain it somewhat logically but finally he could not tie his explanation up as to how retrogression would lead to added strength.
        I haven't seen him for days, i think he is still in hibernation meditating hard on it. However, i should acknowledge I found his train of thought pretty logical although he could not finally explain the chestabal part.
