Rohinirajanji
Can you please delineate some principles for birth time rectification.?
regards
The primary principle attributed to Sage Rohiniranjan is: AVOID IT!
Just kidding about the Sage part, but the principle is sincerely offered!
Sadly, the classical methods of tattwa, pinda etc do not work out in a significant number of charts.
The other method currently in vogue which involves synchronizing the life-events with dasha and transits is logical but is influenced by ayanamsha and dasha type and year. It is strange but if you take a few examples of known birthtimes (accurate ones to the best of your knowledge) and then play around with the birthtime and see if the new line-up of dasha and transits fits or not, you will be surprised! Most people would not have the time or patience to do that but it can be very educational.
If you are into 'reading' books, Rectification of birth time (an analytical approach) by Prof. PS Sastri is a good overview. Other books on nashtajatakam as rectification is called also exist.
I have seen some very elaborate exercise on some of the older lists but when later on the individuals found out their time, the rectified and nearly perfectly matching (with events and traits) birthtimes were at times off by hours!
If someone does not have a birthtime and has a burning question, you are better off any day to cast a prashna chart (horary astrology) and take it from there.
Sorry to be such a party-pooper!
