HELLO EVERYONE...Something has been bugging me and I have had a difficult time learning. I hope you will be patient and help me to answer this.
what type of results can be expected when the lord of a house is a functional malefic and aspects its own house or mooltrikona that contains good planets. Does this strengthen the house and bring good results or does it restrict it? For example if Saturn is the lord of the 2nd or 11th and lets say Venus is well placed in either house promising wealth or gains through social circles, but Saturn is aspecting its own house. I understand that Saturn restricts, but isnt it a good thing for a house lord to aspect its house? What will be the significations. Also what happens when they mingle with other planets. Malefic Saturn lord of wealth mingling with jupiter lord of gains. Does saturn ruin jupiter, or help it?
And what will be the case when the ascendant is also lord of the 8th or 12th. Do we ignore these statuses? Like if the ascendant lord is mars or saturn and lord of the 8th and posited in the ascendant. Does this still strengthen the chart. Although I have learned in the past that it is not a malefic, does this hold true in conjunctions and aspects with other planets?
I know i sound confused but i have read a lot but i havent gotten a clear answer for these questions. I just want to understand the nature of these planets, and I havent found the answer yet. Thank you so much guys.
Take care
Dear Angel-eyes,
No you do not sound confused! This matter of functional benefics and malefics have perplexed jyotishis for a long time and there have been systems erected around it with massive followings.
Surely then it must be something big to have mobilized and motivated thousands to look at it, write even more and still the matter is not solved or established.
I would not try and capsulize the solution in a forum post because that would be arrogant or at least ineffective. I will however direct your attention to a beautiful little book called Laghu Parashari Bhashya. It deals with this very issue in great details, very differently from other classics and is focused specifically on the vimshottari dasha and how planets predictably behave in that framework.
Please give it serious attention if you are sincere!
