I read something, which I found pretty interesting in Dr. Charak's "Elements of Vedic Astrology", quoted below.
"Sun in ninth house"
Blessed with wealth, friends, sons and happiness; devoted to gods and brahmins, adverse for father (NOTE !!!)
Then he goes on to say
Note: The sun is the significator of father and ninth house indicates father. A significator in its relevant house generally damages the concerned signification "
I have sun, lord of 11th in ninth house and every jyotishi I have talked to, have sung paeans about how illustrious my dad would be unless otherwise pointed out, which I do very rarely. I would not agree much with these jyotishis since my experience with charts which have such placement has been ambivalent at best, hence i am seriously wondering Dr. Charak's point.
Any thoughts, comments, experiences ?? Also can we extend this concept of "significator being in its relevant house generally damaging the concerned signification" to other planets like venus(significator of wife) in seventh for male charts, jupiter(significator of husband) in seventh for female charts, moon in fourth house etc. Interestingly, Dr. Charak does not mention about those.
RR I would especially like your comments since you very well understand where I am coming from

Dr. Charak was probably saying that based on the "karako bhav nashaya" principle. Sun being pitrikaraka in 9th will affilict the indications of the 9th house.
I have written an article for Express Star Teller on this very topic. I think they have a website. They may be able to help your acquire the issue in which it was published. if I recall correctly it was published in the July or august 07 issue.

I do agree with Dr. Charak's theory Projenator
Another example: I have a friend who has Venus, significator of wife, present in the 7th house of marriage.....obviously other factors like dispositor, dasha, drishti etc need to be considered....but the 1st hypothesis we need to start from in this case is that Venus in 7th causes separation from spouse.....ergo, his married life is quite on the rocks right now.
Similarly, another friend of mine has Moon, significator of mother n home in the 4th house. I am yet to derive any significations of this from her personal life....however, if we do apply Dr. Charak's theory here, it means that she is probably going to be the source of a lot of tension n differences with her mother (yet to be confirmed)...also, she might be deprived of stays in her maternal house (confirmed).

Shubh,
thanks for sharing some real life experiences, I really appreciate that. When I put up something for discussion, I expect other members to share any experiences they might have observed, which I guess is fair. I had a lady friend, who had venus in the seventh house of virgo, hence debilitated. She also had ninth lord mars in eighth and seventh lord mercury in ninth. She comes out very strong and self-righteous(saggitarius moon afflicted by rahu which makes her unstable as well), no wonder she already had a divorce and currently in her efforts to get married the second time, she is having lots of problems. But she has lagna(pisces) lord jupiter in tenth, so she is making quite a bit as a SAP consultant which i think is way way more compared to the amount of effort she put in her education. Jupiter never fails you when it is a benefic. Maybe she will get married later once the martian effect wears off.
thanks for you input
