Ignorant I definitely am coz I feel theres so much more for me to learn and explore.
But what I meant by contradiction was the ways to arrive at the solution and the methods followed are so different and yet amazingly they all give similar results.
Yes isn't it wonderful? The differences and yet usefulness of different modalities which are essentially different ways of looking and feeling at the universe and human experience. One is not just waxing philosophical when one realizes how finely and intricately interconnected things and happenings are in this universe. Rather than being perplexed, or frustrated, let us be grateful to the Intelligence that made it all possible. And also realize that astrology may have a logical, science-like appearance but there is a lot more to it than just that. And it is not necessary to figure out how it all works. Let us first focus on making it work in our hands. All the rest of gyan can follow when the time is right! It is like driving a car to utilize its benefit. It may help, but one does not have to become an automobile mechanic or engineer, if you see what I mean.
The true spirit to be mintained for learning astrology very well explained.
Again knowing or trying to know the logic behing how it works helps us to understand the logic. And when we can understand THAT, it becomes like water. Of course it may take a few lifetimes to understand it prefectly.

What you say may be true Rishi, but here is the practical problem

While such understanding and 'knowing' is good for the individual astrologer, it does not help other astrologers because once perfection is achieved they move on to other things and the knowledge goes with them since they do not do astrology anymore but become trikalagna (instead of just remaining Devagna) with the activation of their 'jyotishmati' nadi as I once read in KN Rao's article or book. He mentioned that this nadi is described in yogic scriptures
Dada,
We can guide the people who are willing to learn. If they give up half way as it happens to many(sustenance and interest while learning astrology is not easily bought), they do as so many others...... Some...a few remain.
Even the very few that remain...is THE blessing, One cannot force astrology and astrologers to remain after all. The rest willing to remain intertested and sustain will do so.
The others like us can motivate only.

Rishi,
I was not talking about people who get bored or disillusioned from astrology, but that astrology is just a step in the right direction (and some sceptics may disagree with me and say that actually that step is missing and one should be looking down as opposed to 'up'

when walking on the ladder to avoid falling through!
Dada,
Bored and disillusioned is not the question. Learning astrology needs much patience and sustenance. Material desires or such desires are more relief giving....Kali Yuga. Astrology may not be the right(desired/expected) direction of this yuga.
The ones that remain for astrology are the patient ones patient enough to accept some different knowledge.
RishiRahul
Does this patience and relentless pursuit come from fate or free-will? Astrologically speaking...
Dada,
Sorry for the late participation.
It comes from Fate, more than free will, is my belief. What if free will is included in fate?
In the PALM: The thumb denotes the WILL;The rest denotes FATE.
When closes the palm you find the thumb in one side and rest in the other; as if guarding the rest.
Just a thought which I feel need more consideration.
Thoughtfully,
RishiRahul
regarding free-will being subservient to fate, Thakur Sri Paramahansa ji gave an anecdote of the goat being tied to the pole in a courtyard surrounded by walls. The rope which tethers the goat to the pole is free will but fate is the courtyard.
When I first read/heard this long ago a mischievous question popped in my head! "But the goats are known to chew on things constantly. What if the goat chews the rope continuously (one minded meditation) then cannot the human goat escape?
Your mention of thumb being will and rest of palm being fate is very interesting, from the human perspective. If I understand correctly, human is the only 'animal' who has muscles and ability to bring the thumb in contact with each finger making a "pincer grip'. Imagine if this were not possible, you would not be able to do many things, such as hold a pen, for starters. This symbolically tells me that humans were destined to use free-will! Maybe I should replace 'destined' in last sentence with 'designed'. Designed by God/Nature obviously!
Think about that...
