Classics don't provide considerable or for that matter much about the use of gems in Astrology. The jewels of Astrology doesn't really substantiate about gemstones, their connection with planets, and their affect on people. However, it can also be said that half of these sacred and classic texts have been lost in the depths of time. What we have today in our hands is less than half of the classics that once lived in our home, our Earth.

Out of all these, the best way we can come up with some valuable info on the topic is by sharing our opinions, our experiences, and our judgment. I'd appreciate all of you out there, if you could drop by few lines on what you feel about gemstones and its use in Vedic Astrology.

My position on this issue is dimensional and confusing, yes. What I feel: Can a stone really alter destiny? Can it really change what is written? On the other hand, these stones aren't there to change our destiny, but to help us achieve a frame of mind. Planets directly affect our mind, which is why Chandra Lagna is so-so important, and these stones can help us resolve issues we may not be capable of. Again, but has this science of gemstones been tested enough to consider it legit? There are many answers, many statements, and many questions. Only we can answer them, fill them, and develop them.

RR rightly pointed out this trait of mine in one of my posts and he knows me well enough to have said that. That being said, life's experiences are prolly teaching me a lesson to present my questions/challenges well and be politically correct about them. You seem to have a prolific Mercury in you then - a mixture of intellect and tact. I'm guessing that there is a good aspect of Mars and Mercury here. Even Moon seems to be in good position from Mercury..... Conrrect me if I'm wrong!
