Given aKundli.. can anybody tell , that the kundli is of a male / female, can anybody distinguish it.
if yes... how to identify this.. please let me know.

Dear Pinky!

This was one of the first questions I asked myself when I began exploring astrology!

Should be easy, right? Mostly a binary yes or no answer! Correct??

With all the gender attributions to the planets and rashis and on and on and on, it shoulc be a cinch!

Unfortunately NOT! Frustrated beyond my wildest dreams and yet clinging on to astrology because it was giving me many other answers and to others as well -- more immediately important than the gender!


Suddenly it dawned upon me one day and I almost fell down on the floor laughing!

All I had to do was look at the nativity sitting across from the table from me in this face-to-face reading as has mostly been done and recommended for time immemorial!

The remote reading is a new phenomenon and may cause a problem, I can see your point of view!

Gender indicators are given in astrology but all of them fail if you test them, just as indicators for longevity fail too!

In case you do find the answer, I hope you will share with all of us here -- the surefire way to identify gender given only the birthdata!
Using astrology ALONE!

Astrology never fails, but astrologer do. It is difficult  to determine the Gender, but I wish to state it is not impossible. One of my friend a reowned personality in Bangalore, to whom I asked the same question ,  said, any individual horoscope throw each and every aspect of the native chart, but because of  limited knowledge  possessed by the reader, on the occean of information provided by vedic astrology, even the best of the best analyst of horoscope do fail. It is mainly due to the factor called 'KALA'(time) even the best of astrologer do deviate as they do not have the power to visualise all the aspect at a single point of time. A crude method of determine the sex of the native is by seeing the placement of Ascendant, Sun , Moon  in the odd or even sign, he said. The strongest of them gives indication of the sex of the native. However, he hastened to add, it is not only one of the determinant factor. He continued to add, that it may be necessary to look into D7, D9 & D10 chart too. He even said by looking into the Ashtakavarga charts and the bindu possessed by Ascendant, Moon and Sun , have sometimes do give the clue to sex determination of the native.


In this connection, I draw the attention to the book 'Practical Horary Astrology', By Ms. Gayatri Devi Vasudev and Prasna Marga by Sri B V Raman, wherein something related to the question posed here , is discussed .

Dear Govardhanvt,

I usually do not take a statement to task like this, but this very TIRED unsubstantiated phrase is simply misleading!

Where is the evidence for this? Commonsense will tell anyone that Astrology is SILENT until it speaks through an Astrologer and proves its existence! Does that make sense?

Astrologers, as they themselves admit often lean on yogic practices, japams and other para-astrological channels and abilities to DIVINE for their clients. Nothing wrong with that, since the nativity gets the benefit of such a consultation, but please let us not lump it all in the 'astrology' pigeon hole indiscriminately!

Let us not use such unsubstantiated phrases which are misleading and worse!

Your second statement to my reply


To me it appears that both the statement are quiet contradictory to each other.

I should not be mistake, and stands corrected, I believe that there none other than GOD who is great. In such a situation, I firmly believe that all astrologer are bound to make mistake at some point of time.  Vedic astrology is considered to be divine science, that means it is created by GOD, which is always infalliable and there is no way Astrology would go wrong.

Hence, with due respect to your thought and views, I am of view that Astrology being a subject in itself can never be wrong. No subject in the world be it science , arts , commerce or language was ever wrong. So is Astrology

A similar argument came up with a friend  few years back. I simply asked my friend to give me one example where astrology went wrong. Till today, he never came with an answer which is very convincing to me . The interpretation by the Astrologer can be proved wrong. It is perception of the astrologer which gets dented because of the limited knowledge one possess. Perception and understanding varies between individuals and hence the knowledge of astrologer on the grasp of the subject of astrology would accordingly vary . The problem with current day astrologer is that they think they are supreme and know everything in world and their ego overtakes them and thus giving room for many in the world to redicule the divine science. Astrology is such a huge subject which covers every sphere of the universe and has no limits and has infinite boundaries. None other than God can say he has touched the boundaries. Astrology is infalliable.

Let us take the yet another example of Benazir Bhutto. The horoscope of her was drawn at the time when she was born. It was the  problem of astrologers who  were not able to get  proper timing . Still astrolgoer are fighting about the correct date of birth. Just because Natwar Singh gave the timing does not mean it is correct, that was one of the reaction I received from an astrologer. But She was destined to die on that particular day because of the certain planetary influence,which cannot be changed in any means. None can prevent it. Thus timing of her birth and death was pre destined , according to  the planetary postion which can never change and thus goes to prove astrology is correct and it is only astrologers who tend to make mistake either to due improper information or because of certain other factors.

I hasten to add, that it should not construed that  I am  undermining the various experts in the field, I always bow to the greatness of all such stalwarts who possess such a vast Knowledge. Incidentally, I wish to say, in this Kaliyuga, no astrologer in this world is anywhere near to the greatest of Saints ,who were instrumental in deciphering this subject of astrology in an understanable manner to human race of the modern world.
