I've heard some people make some pretty powerful claims as to the scope of what can be revealed through vedic astrology. Can vedic astrology really reveal names, characteristics, and birthdates of future spouses, children, business partners, etc?
Or do those reading the charts use intuition or other abilities to to predict these things according to what the charts say?

I cannot surely speak abt the connection between intuition and vedic astrology coz these are two different aspects altogether but vedic astrology can surely reveal a persons general nature, nature of spouse, kids and parents as well. All of this based of course on positioning of planets, their behaviour. strength and other aspects.
But acceptance of this ultimately depends on an individual's personal belief after all. Correct me anyone if i'm wrong.

Before you start trying to figure out and begin explaining how it all works, should you not really verify that such claims are real and true and happen often enough to be 'real effects/observations'?

Otherwise it is not wise to spend too much brain-power before confirming if what you are searching is a real thing and happens often enough. And do not go by anecdotal evidence which floats aplenty in the Internet Bhavsagar!

Observe it yourself, several times consistently and then go out with a lantern to find out how it possibly happens!

Otherwise it is similar to trying to logically deduce the existence of the lochness monster or the Sasquatch or the Yeti and the ubiquitous (NOT!) UFO, from one's favourite armchair!
