Hi all,
I am in the process of learning astrology. Howto read the navamsa chart ? For marriage matching, should we compare my navamsa chart with girl's navamsa chart ? Its totally confusing.
Can anyone give a detailed information in simple terminology so that a beginners like me can understand.
Hello Ultimate,
While you await the detailed yet simple explanation, may I suggest that you do the following:
1. Assuming that you have read some of the basic information available in modern writings and ancient books and are familiar with how to read navamashas etc, please read (unless you already have) a text named Devakeralam (aka chandra kala nadi). The latest I heard of was R. Santhanam's translation in 3 volumes. Despite some gaps and distortions, it has good information.
2. Develop a 'test bed' of charts of individuals who you know very well and/or have ready access to for confirming findings and astro-correlations, and which you can follow-up and test your predictions on. A variety of individuals (different stations in life, different work, study, family experience and different natures etc, just to round out your test bed). This is a long-term thing and will be useful to you in your other astrological quests, beyond navamsha.
3. Try and correlate their traits and actual experiences with what astroindicators would tell you. Do not assume that what is given in texts is all validated information. Many may feel this would take a lot of time, but after the initial few years it becomes very easy and almost becomes second nature. You would then begin to see the incompleteness of information and at times their flawed or distorted nature as given in books, writings and on internet information which varies in quality from Heavens to Hades!
4. The use of navamshas for 'synastry or matching' is an interesting possibility but one would like to see at least a few dozen cases where it has been tested and demonstrated to be meaningful. Astrology has many many situations where what seems intuitive may actually not work out when put to test.
Merry Christmas,
