People have a wrong notion about astrology, especially many people in my generation (my cousins, etc).

I love having arguements with them about this.

Sadly, the agent responsible for such false notions amongst the younger and even some older generations about astrology is due to a variety of reason. The wave of rationalism that arose after the 'flower child' movement of the 60s -- many of the rationalists being the parents of these flower children generations who swung back at new age and all the la la loo loo of the psychedelic spiritual escapism. Also responsible were the newspaper astrology columns and the dell horoscope type books. Sadly these overwhelmingly catered to the tropical western astrology which was primarily hurt by it not only because of the inadequacy of sun-sign astrology but also because it played its siren song in the west which was a bastion of modern science at that time and of capitalism and rational thinking to all of which astrology was counterintuitive (oxymoronical as it may sound -- namely, intuition and rational mind!). Some of the most vehement opposers of sunsign astrology were serious tropical astrologers and it took an influx of individuals with strong rational, psychological, humanist astrologers of modern times to drive the superstition and doom and gloom out of western astrology and bring it to its emancipated form in which it is practiced today. It has evolved its own niche but the myth and cloud of sun-sign astrology around it continues, even in the minds of astrologers of other schools such as jyotish whose practitioners would pass comments on other schools of astrology without studying them and yet get all uptight and up in arms when their own craft is challenged as superstition.

Such is human nature!

Hopefully the modern jyotishis coming from all kinds of backgrounds will bring to Jyotish what the modern astrologers brought to Tropical astrology!

Gone finally are the mystical, devotional, religious auras around Jyotish. Or so one hopes!

Read about the real incident of Nadi astrologer....had heard earlier about such happenings too! I am very interested to personally get a reading from one such genuine Nadi astrologer.....please can you tell me the details about the one u spoke of ....the Kanchipuram ,Tamilnadu one.

  I do believe such things exist...n the incident itself says it n I think that proves our many births too! ....but knowing that the karma n fate of different births are interrelated is indeed intriguing...dont you think so?
