For What Little It may be Worth!

It is heartbreaking how the state of astrology has gotten to! More so
in the last few years than ever before.

The glib manner in which individuals who toss poorly researched ideas
and anecdotal comments these days is simply SHAMEFUL!

All these bright little ideas that arise in modern heads fall to
pieces with even a simple database search! And yet, astrologers and
particularly jyotishis had been claiming things definitively on and
on for decades without testing, and without being challenged. It is
shameful and sad.

What is sadder is that some/many of these folks had been claiming and
presenting boldly and definitively 'formulae and adages and rules' as
solid research in a milieu where polite acceptance and not fierce
PEER REVIEW had been the norm!

How curious! And more importantly: WHAT IS REALLY WRONG WITH JYOTISH
AND JYOTISHIS? OF ALL KINDS!!

I fully vouch and second your views. Jyothish is a very vast subject, which none can say he/she has mastered the subject. The permutation and combination that happen in charts is so large that each horoscope  is taken on case to case to basis.But it should also be appreciated, that what our saints have formulated in earlier days are foundation and the modern jyothishi are making efforts to just building a structure above it. So long the eddifice or the foundation is not destroyed, I am of the view the attempts of modern Jyothish should be allowed with some freedom. Incidentally, you should appreciate, both you and me are in the modern world and changes should be given some importance and cannot be totally prevented. I am of the view, none has any supremacy in  astrology and every one are right in their own ways. It is how we look at this. In any Research, there would something positive or negative. Research inference would always have opposition. There is nothing wrong in countering.

I bring to your notice of some of the recent facts:

Few days back NASA said, Planet Venus generate electricity that too by using sulphur getting burnt out. This modern scientist found after making so many years of Research. But our saints have told about this phenomenon, thousands of year back.The modern people wants everything to be proved by facts and get satisfied. Can this be prevented?

One has to learn by experience and to learn by experience, one needs example. If one has something to counter, it has become a necessity to  countering them with examples , so that it would help them in understanding the Jyothish and refine , if at all they are in wrong track

Changes happen everywhere at all times. One cannot be rigid . Acceptance of changes at appropriate time is true wisdom

I personally feel , Jyothish can never whither and our saints & exponents in astrology  rein supreme always  in the world at any point of time. A true Jyothishi would know the importance of word 'Kala' and 'Kala 'has its own role to pay  

I always say this to my clients and all those who come to Me

None is supreme to other Human. Only GOD is supreme to HUMAN

Thank you for your kind sharing here. A few comments if I may:

Much of the defensiveness that arises in the modern framework of astrology has to do with *possessiveness*( perceived, mispercieved or misinterpreted! When the pro-Babylonians somewhat prematurely aimed their logical canons towards the East, a strong reaction emerged! Indians only recently released from the clutches of europeans who had moved in and taken over India for some hundreds of years following their Persian/mid eastern precursors met with a strong resistance by the strong and firmly grounded followers of Jyotish! Despite their many differences and internal bickerings which shall continue because we are human!

Who really owns astrology?
The same person who owns the apple in the orchard!
The human farmer looks after the apple grown in the orchard that he *legally* owns so the apple really belongs to him!

However, can this owner/farmer predict how many apples he will OWN next year?

And that is where the critical quandry arises!
