Okay fair is fair!
While my virus checker scans the other system, as posted earlier, on this link given under the feet of Ganesha (NO LESS!) the so called JYOTISH LINK and VERITY starts out with trashing western astrology and Ptolemy and his mistaken take on zodiac and on and on!
The day ASTROLOGY (includes JYOTISH) takes that kind of minimalistic stance and it BECOMES accepted by you all, that would be the day I march back to SCIENCE and that would be the day when astrology in its large tent format would lose me and find its HARSHEST CRITIC! For what I AM worth!!
PLEASE stop this mud-slinging.
Astrologers of all cloths and indeed all occultists and psychics and all, no matter how much you logically-driven astrologers had been trying to separate from your cousins and siblings who would rather see a palm or a spread of tarot cards or yarrow sticks thrown or Kowris in an ashtamangala ritual or -- <<your favourite occult fetish goes here!>> -- For God's sake, wake up and realize that WE ALL are viewed by the WORLD as an ISLAND separate from their reality!
Sure they come to us from time to time, but do they invite us into their reality? Like friends or relatives, as one of their own?
YES, I have seen that western astrologers do not use the sidereal zodiac and I have written about that and urban myths spread by some and yet I had the clarity to connect to some of my tropical brethren and sistren who showed another portal to those who would embrace that!
The use of midpoints and interplanetary aspects were a brilliant means to overcome the need to rely on the sidereal zodiac which in the TODAY must depend cripplingly on ayanamsha which is hardly ONE unity but MANY!
At least the tropical astrologers do not have to worry about what is the best ayanamsha or which dasha year to choose or which chara dasha to use? Parashara, Varahamihira or K.N. Rao's choosing?
There are MORE variations and variants in JYOTISH today than there remain in Western Tropical astrology that some of us choose to make fun of and create websites about and advertise!
AS THE ANCIENT ADAGE ALWAYS WENT:
PHYSICIAN, FIRST HEAL THYSELF!
Claims, bravados, unproven little quips in tiny, boringly, reiterative pocketbooks for non-beginners and products from jealously guarded and cloistered schools in hiding and software riddled with mistakes and misunderstood but brazenly touted as wisdom is what I see today on the jyotish scene, all over the place!
Honesty and transparency are sadly missing, as hopefully it was never, before...? OR MAYBE THAT IS THE TRADITION WE MUST DESTROY!!
Instead of lashing at me and responding to this post -- Please get serious, if you are serious about jyotish and about TRUTH! There can ONLY be ONE! Right?
Rohiniranjan
[[PS: YES THIS has been the most difficult post to compose and edit and edit again! YOU HAVE THE POWER TO MAKE THIS THE LAST ONE FROM ROHINIRANJAN ON THIS FORUM! IF YOU SO CHOOSE!! MY VOTE HAS ALWAYS BEEN CAST FOR REALITY AND THAT INCLUDES ALL REALITY AND ALL PERCEPTION THAT THE HUMAN BEING HAS ALWAYS BEEN GIFTED WITH AND WE ALL WERE SUPPOSED TO EXPLORE AND FIND AND KNOW ABOUT!
HAVE YOU DONE THAT LATELY?]]

Dear Rohiniji....
I was only doing what I did because I found quite a good number of insights there regarding the planets, the houses and such Fundamental info abt Jyotish out there. I had been going through that stuff for long, and was really happy to be reading things in a well-arranged cohesive manner.
I wasn't promoting the site or its author. I was only acting in a spirit of sharing.
Besides, I never went through that article on Ptolemy before you pointed that out. I have nothing against Tropical astrology. Only, as you pointed out earlier, Its too late for late bloomers like me to imbibe the whole of Astrology in all its incarnations. So I stick to Jyotish, in its traditional form as is pointed out to us by learned gurus and the like.
When we all begin our forays into astrology, even here in the India of today, all we see and hear is the Sunsign based surface level "Western astrology." So when the time comes when we learn that there is more to it than what we are reading we begin to receive the first of a series of jolts. beyond that we instinctively reject anything that has the word Western to it. But I feel that as we move deeper onto Astrology, we will overcome this territorial allegiance and come to accept all any form of divination as holding its own. Then the honor is not, of course, Astrology's, but ours.
i didn't think i would be hurting anyone when posting that link, or all the more, causing outrage. If so, then I"m very sorry for having done what i did.

Dear Seeker (You still haven't shared with us your name! It is important!!)
I did not ever have any concern as per your personal intention in sharing this site with all the thousands of members on this Mystic Forum! So, I hope I have not turned your genuine sharing out of sheer joy into a nightmare of defensiveness and explanationss!
And your patience through all this and gentle demeanour was also appreciated as well!
This was one of those strange evenings for me! While I deal with several forums/fora, I was also dealing with one of the so touted *professional* jyotish software, a demo version actually. Not only was the birthdata different from what is generally accepted, but also this "evening" birth was shown in the demo version as a morning birth (sun in 1st as opposed to 7th) and I had an interesting email conversation with the programmer as he shared his unique take on chara dasha and how BPHS was corrupted on all rashi dashas (he only gave one example and not very much in details!). How sad! Indeed!!
GOOD LORD!
WE (students, jyotishis, programmers, teachers, gurus, and all that lie in between!) BETTER get REALLY SERIOUS, I again reiterate!

Dear Seeker (?? Name awaited!)
Have you read two books, one by Eysenck and Nias and the other by Seymore?
Those are important to learn about the glory of Jyotish, simply through its exclusion in those books! Might sound strange but tell me otherwise after you have read those books!

Hi RR,
Just a few questions, hope you're not offended.
#1 Why do you have to speak (or in this case, write) in riddles all the time? Why can't you write in a concise manner what you want to convey? Nearly every post of yours is too lengthy to leaf through, most of us don't have the time. And more often than not, we have no idea what you're trying to convey.
#2 I've noticed in every post that you're not able to quote properly. Quite surprising, because a man who could write so much cannot quote!
#3 I also notice an air of condescension, whenever you answer a newbie. You answer them, without really answering them. You answer their questions with questions, and it really gets confusing.
#4 Sometimes, I have no idea what you're talking about? Do you?
I thought I could ask you all this, as you seem to have started this thread, and maybe, you welcome criticism. Hope you're not offended.
Warmly,
Mercurial
