What would you say is more important in determining ones career?
The Asc Lord or the 10th house Lord and the Aspect on it and on the 10th House? Or A combination of everything which makes it even more complex.

The 10th. lord, planets in/aspecting the 10th., planets aspecting the lagna, strongest planet in the chart, 10th. lord's position and aspects in dasamsa. 10th from the moon.

This is how I see it -- If the career is meaningful, rewarding and of an important nature, the tenth house [[and 2nd the house of niyama]] will play a role. But this may not always be the case and at times ones vocation is tied to or better correlated with the remaining upachaya bhavs, namely: 3, 6, 11.
Lagnesha and ekadashesh in navamsha is another indicator. so also the lord of 10th in navamsha.

This makes sense because now a days in particular, there are so many professions and ways of earning that what you call 'complex' may actually be the norm rather than the exception.

If an astrologer is consistently challenged to come up with the finally chosen profession of an individual in a 'blinded' manner (only correct birthdata known, with a couple of traits or full date events not related to profession (for verification of birthtimes), I would not be surprised if they would not be able to come up with 'the' profession based on describable astrological combinations (regardless of ayanamsha etc!).

So to what end does astrology help in that case? Perhaps by giving a few options and directions and consideration of desh,kaal, patra it may be able to help fine tune individuals who have too many choices and are a bit distracted and unfocused! Those that have a strong sense of mission and choice would neither be helped nor deterred by what the astrologer or career counsellor says, anyway. If you run into such a person, make sure you get their horoscope and examine the astrological correlates that made them so dedicated and unwavering despite many odds, at times!

If I am giving you the impression that for most nativities, astrology is not deterministic, fatalistic or black and white, then my job is done!

 do AL, or such related Arudh padas of house or of planets help in determining some carrer ?? though it might stil be not deterministic or still lie in that Gray area but
