Astrological sun (earth really!) moves through one sign in one month. Mars stays in a sign for several months to over a year [back and forth and all that!]. So mars and sun would meet perhaps closer to once a year and by drishti a few times more at best!

It seems that many jyotishis and learners are beginning to see mars and sun as indicators of aggression!

They can be, particularly mars, being the warrior!

Which explains why it is exalted in capricorn and debilitated in cancer!

More interestingly ... may we ponder upon why JUPITER behaves exactly opposite to mars when it comes time for exaltation and debilitation?

What is going on between JUPITER AND MARS?

Well Rishi, the answer could be as simple and obvious as: Because they are opposite and always 12th from each other in their territories!
Mars rules the 12th from sagittarius whereas jupiter rules the 12th from aries. By the same token, mars rules the kosha or treasure of pisces whereas jupiter rules the treasury of scorpio.

The two are in some ways complementary and together form the bipolar complete picture.

Jupiter is about kendra, the center the inner hence its rashis, kshetras are arranged in mutual kendras. It is balanced, and contained and hence calm and deep.

Mars on the other hand is in shadashthaka with itself. In both its ascendants, it either rules the 6th or the 8th!

If Jupiter is coming across as the poised, harmonious, wise teacher and mars the fighter, now there are some reasons described in the above patterns and the story becoming more meaningful and the labels and symbolism not just picked out of some hat but depicted in the zodiacal distributions, the very nidus to which we must return as we ponder upon and dig deep into.

But are they that different or merely two soul friends standing back to back and making sure the enemy does not prevail.

Mars is about explosion, jupiter is about implosion, but both very powerful and watchful. Mars would go out (extrovert) and corner the external threats and enemies and save the territory it is trusted to guard. Jupiter would go inside (introvert) and corner the internal enemies and threats that threaten to harm the inside, the core. They are both guards and custodians appointed for our protection from foes outside and those inside.

In the Kalapurusha's chakra, cancer is the manas zone, the core of our mind, whereas capricorn is the zenith, the acme of expression and our success and the tenth house-attributes. Which do you think would be the most likely zone for excellence for the two planets? The implosive jupiter in the fourth and the explosive mars in the tenth in the resonant kalapurusha kundali! The opposite houses would accordingly be the darkest places for the two planets to be.

There is a lot more of course but I am sure you all can readily figure all that out ...
