Without going thru the birth details it is obvious that Rahu in the 12th. will not be good for the material angle, speaking generally that is.

Rahu with moon as rightly said ,eats into the mind. Technically speaking Ketu does not aspect the seventh, not in the present view of things.
Rahu, thus is afflicting moon(mind), is in the 12th. house(expenses/money shortage). Mars Ketu for this lagna would mean internal aggression/ health disturbace  or both,in this place.

Let us not try seek too much knowing for the last part of life. As truth may disturb the misguided.

Spiritual progress, yes. Rahu can give the need for spirituality, but final spirituality with moon?

Everyone is a spiritual to an extent. Some of them turn more spiritual, some turn less so.
some gain spirituality for  sometime, then face a good life when the time arrises, but does not lose/lose the spiritually gained benefits...and lead a normal, butcontented life.

12th house has many other indications, as does ketu! Why is it not simply expenditure due to clouded thinking or poor decision, instead?

If the combination alone were sufficient, a lot of people would be acquiring moksha in each generation. However, we see that the population of the world is continually increasing at alarming pace instead of decreasing (because a lot of people would be attaining moksha!).
